It's not for everyone. Demons Souls on PS5 was my first "Souls" game and I HATED the first 3 hours or so....basically me dying without accomplishing anything.

At some point something clicked and I got much better. I ended up getting the Platinum (something I rarely do).

Now wondering if Elden Ring will have the same effect on me.

This is about getting good, it's about patience.

I enjoy playing challenging games but games are generally supposed to be relaxing endeavours, which souls games are not.

I think God of War and Returnal had the right balance in combat (could've been abit harder, I guess) for me.

You just know the writer will get it day 1 anyway.

What concerns me about the open world format is that Souls games never had much of a story plot to begin with so I think this one will be harder to stick with for most.

To be honest I like Sekiro the best out of all
of them so a sequel to that would have been more than welcome.

I'am also not interested in Elden Ring but i dont like this type of games. But i can not denay that it looks great and will be fantastic game for people who like this type of games.

I hate that I suck at From Software games.
I miss so much great design and gameplay from great artists and animators because I just don't have the time to "git gud".

I'm 42 and I let my kids take majority of the video gametime in the house. I loved gaming growing up and don't want to take that fun youthful excitement of gaming memories away from them. I'm such a casual now. Time does that to many of us. Getting older from it, plus not having enough of it in the days.

Even though these games aren't for me, I hold them on very high pedestals because they are amazing works of art.

And why we don't care ?

No interest in any FROM game. Not my thing. But Amazing and full respect to the developers and gamers and play these games. They continue to push the envelope and I for one am thankful they exist, even if I don't care for them. The game looks sick for those who enjoy this genre so Ii am really excited for those who are looking forward to it!

I kinda understand this article. Everything about this game I would normally be interested in. Genre is something I would normally love, I like what FromSoftware do, a big fan of George R. R. Martin. I kinda want to force myself to be interested.. But I'm just a bit blasé towards it at the moment and can't even put my finger on why.

I was interested enough to buy it. This break away from the standard From software is interesting. If I’m reading into it correctly at all haha. Challenge is okay but I don’t find the standard formula entertaining. I couldn’t get into any of them that I tried. I’d rather just invest in other games. Im giving this a try though. Chances are I probably won’t like it but it looked interesting enough for support.

There are so many amazing games coming out this year, I mean, take your pick. If you're not excited Elden Ring, then pick up something else. So far, pretty much every big release has been fantastic and there are some real bangers on the way.

There's nothing wrong with being tired of a series. For me it's probably Assassins Creed or Borderlands. Personally, I think Elden Ring is shaping up to be the best game From Software has released to date, but you know, to each their own.

The game isn't going anywhere, so if you ever want to come back, it's ready when you are.

As soon as I saw the leaks I cancelled my preorder. Just the same stuff (right down to the exact same animations). If you want more of that in a new context and new name then this game will probably be the best.

I can get this argument from COD, or Battlefield, or any yearly sports release or assassins creed but this is a stretch. Especially with nothing factual to back it up it is nothing more than an assumption.
