Elden Ring: The Final Preview - IGN

IGN : It’s been a few months since a chosen few were able to take their first steps into Elden Ring - thanks to From Software’s Closed Network Test - and explore just a small fragment of the open world that was teeming with mini dungeons, roaming field bosses, and plenty of secrets. With the release date looming large just a few short weeks away, I was given one last chance to explore as far as I could in the Lands Between. This time there were no barriers to stop me — just a lot of incredibly tough adversaries waiting to kick my ass.

Seems like a bad strategy to have so much out there so long before the actual release. I’m getting it anyway but the hype has definitely died down it seems since we’ve been talking about it for so long

Put yourself on media blackout if it's a game you care about. and don't get caught up in hype - it's for children

The game looks incredible. Cant wait for this.

Still on the fence about buying this one. I do like the setting and I do want to see the world and mythos created by George Martin (glad he didn't write the plot itself, since in A Song of Fire and Ice, the world and mythos were awesome but the plot itself was bad). But if the game itself is loaded with Dark Souls unbalanced gameplay that disguises itself as difficulty, I might give it a pass.

TF? The plot of ASOIAF is amazing and it isn’t over.

Aww, you think he will finish the saga someday.
Anyway, the beginning of A Song of Fire and Ice is indeed incredible. It started going downhill gradually, A Feast for Crows was already a slog, until I gave up reading it in the middle of A Dance With Dragons. So many plot threads not heading anywhere.
George Martin uses a "technique" that he calls "gardener writing style", in which the author doesn't really plan the story, they start it with some ideas, and create stuff as things go. And it really shows in A Song of Fire and Ice. That's why it starts awesome, but it loses its way quickly and characters don't really seem to know what they're doing or where they're going.
I think this writing style works well in smaller books, but in a saga with soooo many characters and plot lines, it's impossible to keep it interesting or cohesive enough. I've read he wanted to make a book trilogy originally. And then since he doesn't have a clear plan or goal, it bloated and he started thinking about 7 books. And now people are discussing even with 7 books, it will be really hard for him to finish the whole story and all plot lines. And judging by the time he's taking between books 5 and 6, it's silly to think he'll ever really finish it.
Also, he's already 73 years old.

I just wish the animations and movement didn't look so floaty and slow in comparison to Nioh

I am not worried from the start. XD

definitely looks like it's running more stable now. Here's hoping the delay isn't too much longer for those who want to play it.

By the way, Isn't it amazing that the person playing in the video is an expert Elden Ring player? XD

What a name for a title with bad performance right now. Yup Tarnished Edition is about right. They made the right choice to delay this game.
