Jaffe: Home needs a lot more stuff

Speaking in a post on his blog, co-founder of Eat Sleep Play and former SCEA Santa Monica Studios Game Director/Designer David Jaffe offered some insight into his thoughts on PlayStation Home.

Cool, I'll send Jaffe a club invite. Joined UT3mods.com club last night, it's actually a good way to find other UT3 players (not very surprising really).

Also, Id agree that Home needs more "stuff", but that will take time, it's only been in open beta for a week or so. Implementing new features etc will take time.

But I need to send out a shout out to Jaffe... Home could use a Crash-up Derby much like Twisted Metal. Get out avatars into a derby put into Home by Eat, Sleep, Play. Imagine if you will....

...to log into my JPN account to check out their HOME and I have to say I like the JPN HOME better than the NA HOME.

The theaters run 3 different movies and the theater seats look all futuristic and higher quality. White Knight Chronicles, Mirrors Edge, and Loroco 2 are the three movies running if I recall (all trailers I've seen before). The Mall is set up the same. There are different items to buy in their store that are pretty unique like Echochrome furniture etc. The Bowling Alley has bowling, darts, the same arcade games in NA version and Namco (Pacman, Galaga, Dig Dug) games which you can get by DL Namco Beta off UK PSN and play in NA PSN. The game space is SIREN at the moment.

I'll check out more late in JPN store but combining the best parts of what's already in all the different region HOMEs and add more than it will be better for all. I'm looking forward to the Red Bull planes though.

I want launching for all games right now! I want a HD TV for my loft where I can stream videos and media from my hard drive and share that video with friends. I want a laptop in my loft so I can surf the internet without leaving HOME. I'd like the option to use HOME primarily instead of XMB but that is just me.

I also think that Afrika photo game sim should be integrated into HOME where you and a friend can go picture hunting. Playing games like Street Fighter 2 HD Remix from bowling alley with another person would be hot.

"We believe Jaffe isn't the only one with those feelings. However, as Home evolves, more content, features, and games will become available and we expect PlayStation 3 owners will spend as much time, if not more, maintaining their Home life than playing actual games."

I'm sure that will be good for software sales ;)

Fishy Fingers6386d ago (Edited 6386d ago )

Well I think that was actually more of an attempt at a play on words. But well done for finding the negative in it. Id expect nothing less from you ;)

Jpinter6386d ago

haha...I agree with Fishy

InMyOpinion6386d ago (Edited 6386d ago )

Good job trying to spin the failure of Home into something positive. I'd expect nothing less from you.

@ Jpinter - Of course you do. I would not expect anything else in the comment section of a PS3 article from a fanboy site like PSU.

solidjun56386d ago

but ofcourse EVERYONE expects nothing less from you. Well...You're actually much worse...meh.

I either play Socom, WOW or I'm in home these days hanging out with clan and my friends. We have a Club and there are males and females in it. Home will evolve and it will get better. As for Software, it'll keep me busy until Kilzone 2, infamous, Heavy Rain, Drakes Fortune 2 and last but not least GOD OF WAR 3 come out.

What do have for the Xbox 360 in 2009?

Theoneneo816386d ago

i think GTAIV DLC other than that cant think of anything else ;)

InMyOpinion6386d ago

Pressing that disagree button won't make it less of a flop.

I think Sony should offer Jaffe the role as President of Sonys Computer Entertainment division. At least he knows what he's talking about.

Cajun Chicken6386d ago (Edited 6386d ago )

These days, he reminds me of David Perry, in that respect.

Information Minister6386d ago

Yeah, what happened to Dave Perry? The guy was one of the most famous producers of the 90s and then he kinda disappeared.

ON TOPIC - Jaffe is right once again, Home needs A LOT more stuff.

prowiew6386d ago

I agree with you voodoo. Sony should fire some executives there and offer the job to people like jaffe.

HDgamer6386d ago

Needs more areas, rooms, be able to visit our friends homes when they aren't around and be able to link profiles to myspace and facebook.

MajesticBeast6386d ago (Edited 6386d ago )

we are in a beta but i watched hip hop gamer but he had some cool ideas for home and i hrd Japan alrdy has the namco arcades. I think the giant commercial boards are awesome and cant wait till they open the uncharted area.

So, I Finally Played Home

I recently published an article about beating my Steam backlog by getting organised and the first game I’ve completed with this new approach is Home.

I chose Home not because of its production values or reviews, but because, well, it’s short. I needed a game to start my new approach on the right foot and read that Home takes less than two hours to beat.

Whatever my reasons for finally installing Home, I found it to be an enjoyable yet flawed title.
