I know it looks like alot of money for Sony to pay with the lawsuit. But it really wasn't. They just want to prove a point like usual. But the ones who get punished here are the fans who are paying all that money for the system. People should be writing Sony, to cut the crap and put the rumble feature in or lower the price of the system.

i on my side dont need this rumble feature. i always played without it. it has an advantage: the baterry lifetime will be longer !!! so why do you need rumble (its use is very exeggerated by the most people)??? but i think sony will make a deal with them.

Yea, it would be neat if they could put that TouchSensitive rumble thing into the PS3, but it probably wont happen, unless sony wants to give M$ money everytime they sell a controller with rumble in it, which will probably be Sony's last resort.

The problem with Third party controllers is that not all developpers will make use of it. Because they keep using the original functions for the original PS3 controller. Developers know that people are using the original controllers without rumble, so they won't make games with rumble. Espesialy when only a small group uses 3rd party controllers.

I can' play anymore games without the Rumble feature now! So I think getting the rumble feature back would be a good thing on Sony's part!

Just imagine playing Warhawk,(just an example)
and all of a sudden in the middle of flying, you get shot from the back: Now with the motion sensing and the "new rumble" it would be the most realistic experience 'cause the rumble would affect the motion sensing appropiately.

I will start by saying I like Xbox 360 more than Wii, and far more than PS3. So there you go. But these are my reasons why.

Blu-ray. Sony's big selling point. But the implementation is so flawed.

If you buy the cheaper PS3, you can't have a HDMI (true Hi-def) port on the PS3, with no way to upgrade. Now, the b!tch of this, is a thing called Image Constraint Technology, or ICT, implemented on future HD disks, designed to crackdown on piracy. Put simply, if the Disk is not running through a HDMI port, the image quality is downgraded, even it is another type of Hi-Def port, like the one on 360. It HAS to be HDMI. Now, HD offers 4x the quality of current television pictures- well guess what- the ICT means the picture quality will be downgraded 4x. Yep, current-gen DVD quality, from a Hi-def disk, even it's on a Hi-Def TV. Sure, it not coming for an other few years- but kinda defies the point of "future-proof technology", doesn't it?

Of course, the more expensive PS3 can play it, with it's HDMI port. But it's a rip for those who buy the cheaper PS3, which is one, even if parents can look past the value of Wii and 360, the parents will buy.

Another obvious point is that no one can truly take advantage of it without a Hi-Def TV. A few lines might be clearer here or there, but playing it on Stantard Def TV will not look much better than DVD. There is a saturation point that can be reached on SDTV in terms of picture quality, and really, Hi-Def movies are for Hi-Def TVs.

So in other words, to take advantage of Hi-def movie playback which Sony is promising "great value" on, you'll in fact have to buy the more expensive PS3 and the HDTV. Seriously people, a PS3, $599 USD, a $1000+ HDTV, $60 games...the price is rediculous to take advantage of the "value" on movie playback Sony is promising. And let me say this now-the Blu-ray playback is the only "perk" Sony has over the competetion- the games are the same, rly. And don't get me started on the UK equivelant price. And dont forget, even though Sony is offering value on the Blu-ray player (which fair enough, it is, as long as the quality stands up), its making money on the HDTVs it sells to play them on! Not to mention the movie studios Sony owns that are making profit on Bluray. Oh, and hasten not to mention- the movies are gonna be about $30, or £25, each. And Sony claims it has great support over HD-DVD- the list for Blu-ray counts to about one or two studios' support over HDDVD- but three of those studios are Sony owned! So in fact, HD-DVD has the most third party support.

The hype about the graphics is crap- I think we all know the truth behind that now, they are most definatly comparable to 360, no question. the 3rd party, multiplatform games will look the same anyway, so it's down to the exclusives, and quite frankly, 360, by far, has the edge.

The PS2 had success with it's DVD Feature- but DVD was already an established format by then, and PS2 just capatilised on iut. Blu Ray is different, Bu-ray is unproven. The method Sony is trying is to shove Blu-ray down the throats of Playstation consumers, so that other Sony departments- such as those in HDTVs and Movies- will benefit.

Now, down to the Controller- an obivious rip of Nintendo. I don't care if they say "it was in development for 2 years"- Dont give me that, how come it wasn't in the controller last year? Hm? Honestly, Sony's lies.... Ken probably wrote it on the back of a cigarette packet along with virtual reality and whatever what-not he was fantasising about a few years ago, then he dug it out again after Nintendo's nunchuck annocenment, just so he can "Sony has had this idea for 2 years". Please. Also, the implementation is shoddy- being still a joystick, the control is all in the wrist, unlike Nintendo's set-up, which lets you use your whole arm, therefore Sony's controller will be damn uncofortable to use, IMO. Trying twisting a Dual Shock 2 (the design hasn't changed ) around for a few minutes, up and down at ninety degress, left to right etc...also consider the controller will likely be slightly heavier due to the build in wireless sensing equipment...THEN try and imagine controlling a game like this. Good lord. You saw that Sony rep "controlling" Warhawk in the presentation- he crashed into several pillars, etc...no way do they have this refined. Two years MY ASS. Also, note the "Guide Button".....RIP.

For some reason, Sony fanboys have been harping on about downloading Music and Movies like it's an exclusive PS3 online thing- you can do that on 360 as well, things such as "Artist of the Month". And when he says "movies", don't think of anything more than what 360 has on LIVE- think about it, a "full-length" HD movie, by Blu-ray and HD-DVD standards, should be about 30-60gb, a great chunk, if not of the Hard Drive Sony offers, so don't think of downloading anything of the epic movie length proportions, and certainly nothing more than what Mircosoft are offering right now.

Also, an Internet browser, the ability to add any Hard Drive, and the Linux OS are all big mistakes...think about it. There are already viruses developed for Linux, as with any operating system. There will PS3-player orientated websites, appeling to those who go online with their PS3. They could stick any old Linux virus on there, and BOOM- firmware destroyed. Adding any drive will allow any wannabe hacker to put his files on with ease- 360 requires something far more extensive, thereby reducing the risk. It happened with PSP, it will happen with PS3- except it will fcuk over hardware thats even more expensive. Thank god for 360's closed Internet and firmware.

Now, to the games- MGS4 is the ONE killer game for PS3. That's all. Possibly The Getaway, as I liked that game, even thougyh others didn't. Killzone 2, the CGI was nice, but does anyone remember the first Killzone, and it's "Halo-beating", shoddy gameplay? The 360 has more killer games- Halo 3, FNR3, MotoGP06, Oblivion, GRAW & Gears Of War, IMO. Development also, is so much eaiser for 360 than PS3, as reported by many devs.

As for Japanese sales of 360- I swear they are rasict. I believe some have quoted as saying Xbox is too "American" and sticking with their own brands. What a joke. It's not like we do the same for Nintendo and Sony.

I'm telling you, the only reason people will get PS3 is because they are promised "next-gen move playback", and because of the Playstation name. I also have the opinion that people will buy it on the premise "more expensive must mean it's better". I seriously think they are going to get soscrewed over by Sony. That is why I like what MS has done with HD-DVD. They released in a way that only those who can take advantage of it can buy it, and the rest who can't don't have to. It makes the console cheaper, which is fantastic. PS3 forces expensive technology into homes using its Playstation brand, just to make profits on another Hi-def hardware sectors. Whatever profit loss they are making with PS3 will be made up for by the Hi-Def sectors, in time forvided they can force that Hi-def success.

Wii is truly a beast of a machine. Any complaints about graphics are so made up for by it's gameplay. That controller is a stroke of genius, and so much better implemented than Sony's hafhazard attempt at motion sensing (can anyone say "Arthritis?"). I think Mayamoto was right when he wanted Nintendo to keep things close to their chest about aspects of Wii- Now look what has happened, SONY.

Sony are a corperation, they make profit on the Hi-def TV's and the Blu-ray disks they sell from Sony's movie studios, which eaisly recoup the loss from the Blu-ray player. Think of everything you own and what was promised when you first bought it..... When you go into a store do you always think about the company behind every product you buy? It should also be noted that besides Halo, Halo 2, and Splinter Cell, the first Devil May Cry outsold every game on the X-Box. So I guess capcom and Square-Enix have to be doing something right. Even if you don't like the games, its quite apparent that a lot of people do.

It also should be noted, that Gran Turismo 4 has sold more than PGR and MotoGp (which isn't a MS exclusive) combined.

First-off, the X-Box 360 does not have an HDMI port either, so even with the HD-DVD add-on, it won't be able to play HD movies if the ICT goes into effect. So really, what is there to lose? Especially considering $400 premium 360 +$100 HD upgrade = $500 base PS3.

There's no proof it won't be either. (Although, the fact that current HD drives are expensive sort of points towards the expensive side.)

YOU GET THE HARDDRIVE FREE WITH 360 PREMIUM. So it's more like $450. That is, I also doubt that servers can be got for free. Sony are leaving in the hands of the devs', so while Sony won't charge, which is what they've been pointing out, the games companines will.

I hope they do get the rumble feature put back in the controller. Microsoft gets paid off of every sony playstaition controller that has rumble since they own part of immersion. I think the ps3 should have licensed live anywhere on their ps3's too. Then every gamer can play together on a proven online network. But no...sony doesn't want to pay for rumble...they don't want to pay for live anywhere and they don't want to pay toshiba for the dve and hd dvd formatt. Thats why sony does things their way even if its not the popular proven way. And thats where they have gone wrong this time around.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
