What went wrong was they ported the PSVR version over instead of giving us proper motion controls.

This is true. IOI phoned it in with a cash grab copy and paste. It should have blown away the PSVR version but launched in a lesser state. They increased awareness of VR by bringing Hitman to VR. Then, hurt it later with a port to PC. Developers can't be doing that going forward. VR should be going upward and forward. Not a step back.

We need to get out of this current era of having to fix busted launch games after release and low effort. I remember when the Espire 1 developer did this. A potentially awesome sneaking game like MGS phoned in with a bad port that took time to get better with updates and it's still not what it should be. Fun. But could have been way better.

Holy moly, that background insertion effect is distracting as all hell. And it's a bummer there's no written piece to this.

That aside, I hadn't bought H3 yet, and was planning on picking it up for PCVR. This is massively disappointing to hear!

HITMAN Freelancer Review, Agent 47 at His Very Best

ESTNN Wrties: "When Hitman's World of Assassination was revealed at E3 2015, IO Interactive probably didn't expect the Odyssey they would go on with this project. Over 8 years and 3 releases, IO Interactive went from being owned by Square Enix to being picked up and published by Warner, only to go independent with the final entry.

This sounds messy on paper, but IO Interactive also casually released the best stealth game ever made and one of the best titles of the past 10 years. While other franchises tried to be more accessible to wider audiences, the Hitman Trilogy doubled down and focused on the core strengths of the series while also being respectful of its own legacy."
