Everyone has moved on to New and Better Powerful Console like XBOX360.Sony has lost it's reputation when they revealed the ps3 for the first time. PS3 is overpriced,overhyped,and to make it even worse they have come out with HOME that alone puts me of purchasing a ps3.

I just wish that factchecking applied to blogs on major news sites just like they do in newspapers. When someone reads a story is from www.whatever.cnn.com, all they see is CNN and think "ooh, reputable news source!" and drink up the Kool-Aid.

Problem is, we've grown lazy and don't want to think for ourselves, so we let them spoonfeed us BS.

Kudos to the Author of this article for sticking to the facts and not going off on a tirade.

Trouble is people just don't have that kind of money right now.This economy sucks big time. And to honest Sony can't afford to drop the price. They are a consumer based company and if people aren't buying TV's, Blu-Ray players, Movies and CD's as much as the would with a healthy economy it hurts.

SONY wouldn't abandon PS3 no matter what BOTS or CNN or whatever media has say, have a little faith in SONY, they know what they're doing....

I think Sony are not looking at making bigger sales number through cutting prices right now. They need the cash, not so much the numbers. If they cut the price and sell many more, what they will do is jump increase the deficit and the money lost on each unit.
I believe they are happy with doing so well with their current price tag. Once they can reduce the cost further, the price will come down naturally and sales go up while getting closer to a benefit point.

Yeah, I'm so sick and tired with all these mostly American websites that hate on the PS3. Is this their way of showing patriotism? lol I never thought an electronic piece of equipment with such a high failure rate would be so revered so much REGARDLESS of warranty. No equipment should be made to break down this easily! If my car/ washing machine....$hit even toaster were to have this sort of problem, I'd be pissed. And before any idiots decide to throw the word "fanboy" around at me, I had an XBox and it wasn't known to break down so I was happy.

Damn, If I was a console manufacturer, I'd say "Screw it" and make my next console with cheap parts because it seems those journalists don't seem to care about something as petty as that but will be annoyed at another consoles price or (and I say this loosely) "lack of games"

Unfortunately, some people think that America is the entire world lol, so when they speak of sales, or public opinions, they conveniently forget about all the other countries and continents!

Yes, the PS3 is expensive to some people, (people seem to forget how much the Iphone cost offline when it first came out) but to me and some other people, it's worth it and the price will eventually go down.

The sad thing is, do you honestly think that Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo will release a super console with a lot of features after this? Both Microsoft and Sony had loses for every console they sold early on. The PS3 is a big jump from the PS2 feature set wise, but I think next generation the jump wont be nowhere near as big because of the way things are going economy wise. Then, to me, there won't be much point upgrading and I'll be happy to play my old consoles.

Also, it's a little weird that they never mention the Wii destroying everything (even in XBOX360's home territory) and that's even with a 1 year headstart!

judging from the last week; i guess not.

I, as a hardcore gamer feel completely ripped off by paying for things I don't need on the PS3. Any serious hardcore gamer would never, ever, ever use WiFi for online gaming. So why am I forced to buy this useless piece of hardware. To bad they couldn't of cut some more useless stuff off the PS3 and make it more price competitive, like WiFi. And if some causal wants Wifi, they can pay extra for it.

It seems everything else comes in a base model (eg. Cars, Computers, etc...), and you get the extras if you need them. No, not Sony, here we will force you to buy all this useless crap on the PS3, and now have priced themselves out of the market.

As for the online service, sure I can play for free, problem is there are many people who don't have mic's, so playing COD4 online is just a bore feast, and you can wipe out the whole "Team" feeling. Sony's online service is clearly 2nd rate and "Home" has been a massive failure already by the press, but hey, at least its free as I would never pay for their service as it is 2nd rate.

With an supposed install base of 150 million, where exactly did all the Sony consumers go??? With a 20% decline in PS3 sales over last year at this time, this is a massive massive failure, or easily described as a sinking ship. Anytime you lose a few percentage points, it's a failure. But losing a fifth of sales is a total disaster.

I really think reporters are sugar coating the consumer backlash at the PS3. Sony is in huge trouble with this machine, and the PS3 could really sink Sony gaming division into the grave.

PS4 is really looking like a pipe dream at this time. If anything, I think Sony should release a PS4 as soon as possible and just drop the Gamecube.... uhhmmm... I mean PS3.

And for all you Noobs out there, there is minimal difference between a DVD and Bluray movie on a 19" screen. So quit you lying already.

SOny has no mone yto make PS3 tv adds.. but for blu ray they have. They dont cut the price cause their share holders dont allow them, cause they still make a minus with every console sold.

Hell yeah, the PS3 is more known as a blu ray player as a gaming machine.

Best example is japan. PPL there buy more Blu ray as DVDs.. the ps3 sold about 2 million units there but no games are listined in the top20. Its like Square enix told sony 3 months after launch, that SOny should stop to make so much Blu Ray marketing and tell the world that the PS3 is a GAMING machine.

Um yes it IS too expensive to mass people/parents/kids who want games. It's MORE expensive than standalone blu-ray players so the Blu-Ray in it is only useful to people who are TRULY buying it as a game player as well. and the game argument to me still stands, I have way more fun on my 360. I didn't play MGS4 (I don't like that game) I didn't play Resistance 2 (I hated the 1st) I didn't play Motorstorm 2 (I hated the 1st) I haven't gotten LBP yet as I am trying to play through Fable, Fallout, Far Cry 2, COD WAW and Gears MP. The games to you may be awesome, but to me I'm not satisfied, I want God Of War!

the 360 died in 06 so what. That is what was going on in the internet. You can either buy what you like or get what the media tells you to buy. BTW I though that the console sales of the PS3 were good, on the other hand the software sales have been lower than what I expected. Many thought that once the PS3 launched all other consoles would die off and Sony would take the lead as the console of choice by consumers. I still think that most people want a PS3 but are held back by the price.

the 360 is faulty and it's games are bleak in 08 and 09. It also wishes it had Blu-ray.

sony already had to cut 2 usb ports, backwards compat, mem card readers, what more do you want them to cut? you pay a premium price for a premium product

It seems like everyday there's a Sony bashing article people when Sony cut 8,000 jobs those were in useless departments that will save them 1.1 billion dollars this is cause to the economic crisis and pretty soon Microsoft and Nintendo will have to cut some jobs to adapt to it. People saying PS3 has no good games so what if they didn't make the expected sales so what when the hell did a game that made good sales make good games? And lets look at consoles that literally failed Sega Dreamcast I loved that system but at the end of its lifetime it sold only 10.1 million worldwide and was only being sold in the U.S. for 2 years while Europe was the same as U.S. and Japan had it from 1998 to 2006 unbelievably none the less however people say its failing yet it is doing pretty well for a console thats nearly triple the price of an Arcade version of Xbox 360 okay I'm done ranting

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
