Some are saying Starfield wont make it this year but we shall see.
Fable... hopefully we get more info but I dont want them to rush for the sake of releasing it sooner than its ready.
Sega... not likely but they will probably get another studio or two.
The updates part is an easy obvious. We all know they have big plans for Halo and Forza so I don't know why that is even a "prediction" when it is a "certainty".
Xcloud has been pretty good. I've used it on my consoles as well as my phone and PC. I like that it is included with my sub for GPU. I wish Sony would do the same with PSNow and PS+ in one.

You know what’s great is that the only worry that I have about gaming is finding the time to play all these games releasing this year. Man if Starfield and God Of War Ragnarok release around the same time in the fall it’s going to be awesome

Shadowsteal1583d ago

Starfield better drop in 2022 because the only other game slated for 2022 is Red Fall and nobody knows anything about that game.

Orchard1584d ago

Those feel like somewhat safe bets, safer than the ones in the accompanying PS article.

Starfield - Definitely.

Ton of updates for existing games - Very likely

Fable - I expect we'll see a considerable info dump + gameplay this year, but I still expect the release to be later than 2023

Major acquisition - Very likely given the track record

No console Xbox - This one I'd be less certain on, if they mean an actual 'Xbox streaming device'. If they just mean apps on TV's, then sure.

"Xbox streaming device'. If they just mean apps on TV's, then sure."

So basically you won't even need an Xbox?🤔 I don't know about that

Orchard1584d ago

Well, technically, an Xbox is whatever Microsoft chooses to call an Xbox. So if they did launch 'Xbox Streaming Stick' or whatever, it's technically still an Xbox and you're still paying them for that hardware.

That being said, my point was, I don't think we'll see such a device this year. I can see them launching native apps all over the place to make XCloud more accessible, but I don't see them releasing any new hardware this year - streaming boxes or slim consoles (same for Sony as noted on the other thread).

I think the streaming stick device would be awesome and It will make Xbox even more accessible than it already is. How many casual gamers will get the stick and have access to all the current gen releases and backwards compatibility. It will be the fire stick of gaming

I agree these are safe, but overall 2022 is looking more like a safe year for Xbox with Starfield as their big AAA Marketing game of 2022. My guess would be:

1. Xbox Streaming App (XCloud on TVs and most android devices considering you can already do it with APKs)

2. XBO / XBO-X are now fully marketed as Xbox Series Stream boxes, and Phil or somebody will state that "there are now tens of millions Xbox consoles in homes as of today capable of playing the latest and best games "Only on Xbox"".

3. Rumors of a new and more powerful Series S expected to launch 2023, but really it will be just a rebrand of the Current Series S with better cooling and its handicaps removed thus increasing performance. The Series S+ would be a 6nm version with the same core components maybe better / more RAM (12GB, 224 - 390 GB/s), with higher clock speeds (CPU +200 MHz / GPU 1.825 GHz like the SX) for around a 20% more overall performance. It would be nice if all CUs were enabled giving it around 50% more performance, but that's not likely. However, with the +20% it technically puts it completely on par with the Xbox-X in every aspect, but still with a target towards higher fps over resolution (especially with the higher bandwidth memory).

4. Ubisoft+ comes to GamePass, more publisher start making their own Game Collection Apps....And GamePass price increases to $19.99/mo to accommodate most of them. Also Xbox will eventually lock out the loop hole of buying 3 years of Live and 1 month of GP this will make most people mad, cause on online uproar for about a week, and people will accept it and move on. GP numbers will grow at a significantly slower rate, but it will become the norm on Xbox and then slowly pick back up.

5. Square Enix sells their European division to Xbox for billions. Specially Crystal Dynamics and the Tomb Raider IP and Eidos and the Deus Ex IP. Tomb Raider will be rebranded as Xbox's Uncharted and Deus Ex will be rebranded as their version of Cyberpunk 2077, expected launch alongside Elder Scrolls in 2026.

A Starfield console limited Edition like they did with Halo. That would be huge.

rlow11584d ago

I see more tv app streaming. Sega….. could be and it would bring along their very large library. I’m hoping for some unannounced game coming out of left field.

Crows901584d ago

Probably not much to expect from Xbox in 2022. I think 2023 is where they get some good surprises. The best thing for Xbox all of 2022 is going to be all the day 1 games on game pass.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing18d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9218d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit18d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing18d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9218d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
