Google Stadia launched in 2019 and to say the launch was underwhelming would be an understatement. Will it be able to survive another year?

If it lasts 2022 and into 2023 I will be surprised.

The point of Stadia is that it will constantly upgrading behind the scenes without the need for 2.0

There was a point to stadia??

Knightofelemia1608d ago (Edited 1608d ago )

There is no point to Stadia except to bleed money from Google. They haven't gotten the hint that nobody wants the thing. Google dumps cash on three studios release one game then shut down the studios only after a year of purchase that's even faster then how EA works. Christ Google cut the strings on Google Glass faster then this cheap 1980's shitty horror film with shitty sequels. They offered promotions and literally gave the thing away its good to get people to nibble then it ends up in a drawer forgotten about. If Google cut the strings to Stadia and took it out back shot it and buried it with Google Glass I don't think anybody will cry a tear for the thing. I don't think even hardcore game collectors will even want it in their collection its fun to brag about a Hello Kitty Dreamcast or a FF7 PS3 and then when you come to the Stadia you're like fuck should I show it to my friends or not? A stupid white controller in a game collection would just look plain and boring sitting next to a Sega Genesis let alone a SNES someone might thing its a shitty 3rd party controller by the first look at the thing.

@wikkid66

Whilst that is true, if it doesn't make money Google will shut it down.

That's what it means by "survive" will it make enough money and grow for Google to keep it open and apply said upgrades.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing13d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit13d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing13d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9213d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
