End the Far Cry franchise for one. It's stale.

Yi-Long1648d ago

It’s not, it’s fun. Yeah, it’s Far Cry, so huge open world and you go in there and conquer it, but how good/bad it is simply depends on execution, so if the location is cool or not, if the story & characters are interesting, if the gameplay is fun, if the graphics are gorgeous, etc.

I know what to expect from a Far Cry game, so if the setting appeals and everything else is done well, I know I’ll have fun with it.

And AC, ghosts, division etc but I guess they'll go Japan nxt so that ain't gonna happen.
I'm a big fan of ubi over the last 20 years or so but since the middle of last gen (2017) it's all been rinse and repeat same open world formula.
I'll have you back ubi but you've gotta change.

Everyone has a problem today.

There's another company that has a very huge problem.

farcry Ac creed division and ghost recon are all the same game with same mechanics, heck the eagle in AC creed does exact what the drone does in ghost recon. unfortunatly games like this are GAAS it rakes in millions so its never going to stop

Pretty much. Unfortunately, these stale franchises are too much of a household name with massive marketing budgets. The only way for them to fall is franchise fatigue but dunno when that'll settle in. Far Cry / Assassin's Creed / Watch Dogs / Tom Clancy sell way too much. Take a look at this article: https://gamerant.com/ubisof...

If Ubisoft keep shifting this many units of their franchises, why should they spend the R&D to innovate?

Espangerish1648d ago

Their games as still selling well so not really any big problems for them as a business. Creatively though they do have an issue with a being over formulaic. They have 4 similar feeling open world type games (AC, Far Cry, Watch Dogs, Ghost Reckon) so maybe they should drop one or two of those and mix things up with by taking risks with something totally new. Problem is the current formula makes Ubisoft the business plenty of money so not sure we will see change until people finally stop buying their games.

Assassin's Creed is worthy fun simply for the sake of historical virtual sightseeing if nothing else. Watch Dogs has BY FAR the best and most immersive open world with thousands of named NPCs living complex lives. Ghost Recon and Far Cry can go in the garbage bin though.

They make more from the casuals and the formula they use tbh. We the hardcore gamer are not really there target group anymore.
I think that's where they go wrong.
Like you said keep 2 of the franchises and mix the other 2 up with new ip.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing21d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9221d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit21d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing21d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9221d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
