Microsoft Kicking 2009 Off With Ninja Blade?

Gears of War 2, Lips, and Banjo-Kazooie are out the door and Halo Wars won't be coming until March. So, what will Microsoft bring to Xbox 360 owners between now and Halo Wars?

Maybe Ninja Blade.

From Software will have their "dramatic action game" ready for Japan on January 29. Microsoft will be publish it in other regions sort of like how they handled Tenchu Z and Project Sylpheed. An official date has not been announced, but Gamestop says Ninja Blade will be in stores on February 3. While this is just a retail rumor it's plausible since February 3 is a few days after Ninja Blade launches in Japan.

Ninja Blade is an entirely different beast from Ninja Gaiden. Unfortunately, the two games sound a little too much alike. Ninja Gaiden is known for its brutal difficulty and in the future Ninja Blade will be remembered for its sluggish enemies, mutant spiders, and quick time events.

This must be what is going to take Ninja Gaiden's place. We'll see but I'm not going to hold out for this game.

SuperM6378d ago

From Software guys... Do not get your hopes up for this one. Better not to expect anything and maybe get surprised.

mesh16379d ago

Matix6379d ago

I'm so tired of ninja-themed button-mashers. :\

This game does look good, I wanna see gameplay videos before passing judgment. All this FMV stuff always looks tight.

Also waiting for Star Ocean..early on

fuzon6379d ago

whats worse is that FROM SOFTWARE is making the game

I have never seen FS make a good game

The game play of ninja blade is lame as hell

XXXCouture6379d ago

yea From Software is a bunch of retards

NewZealander6378d ago

ninja gaiden 2 wasnt a flop, i actually just bought the game and its a hell of alot of fun, ninja blade looks pretty sweet so far.

Doppy6379d ago

That's a cruel way to end the article.

"Ninja Blade will be know for it sluggish enemies."

I think it looks interesting, but I don't think it will become a franchise, from what they've shown it just doesn't have that franchise fell to it, but I guess we'll see in Feb.

Feb. is going to be packed. Street Fighter 4, Killzone 2, Ninja Blade, Splinter Cell (rumored, but I doubt it), F.E.A.R. 2.

Sekiro Is Not From Software’s Best Ninja Video Game

Ninja Blade is From Software’s best ninja game of all time, including Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. At least it’s the best version of a specific type of ninja game.

Well aren't you cool? Taking a game that was pretty much universally acclaimed and then saying that one that received mediocre to bad reviews across the board is better... There's always one "hipster" out there with a contrarian opinion.

I don’t remember much of it but wasn’t it a QTE heavy game like Asura’s Wrath and GOW3?

NecrumOddBoy2606d ago (Edited 2606d ago )

It was like the Xbox Ninja Gaiden with an insane amount of QTEs. Not bad but not innovative.

SamPao2606d ago

Asura's Wrath and GOW3s QTE usage are planets apart though :D

Youngindy212606d ago

Both of those games were good so....

The Adventures of Cookie and Cream (Or Kuri Kuri Mix as is known in PAL territories) is actually a pretty good game, and gets damn hard in the latter stages.

I'd love to see FromSoft make King's Field 5, or maybe another Armoured Core. I love the Souls games, but I don't want to see it milked for all its worth.

Duke193698d ago

Didn't they also make the 3D Dot Game Heroes (or something like that).

I actually enjoyed that a lot on PS3

eyoung253698d ago

They actually only handled publishing in Japan. It was developed by Silicon Studio.

eyoung253698d ago

I wanted to keep the entries to their own respective genres. Chromehounds and Armored Core are both mecha. I almost included it though.

DarXyde3698d ago

I came here to learn something new and left disappointed.

DarXyde3698d ago

...I'm saying I knew FromSoft had a hand in all of these games. I would know, I own/ed most of them.

WhyWai883697d ago

Armored Core series producer left From Software.
My guess is the company shifted all focus to Souls series... :(
RIP Armored Core....

eyoung253697d ago

I would love to see them come out with a new IP in the mecha genre. Armored Core was cool, but I think they have expanded their skills to make a more unique game.
