This is weird wording. So does being able to "suspend" my game the same as saving my progress? Is that the same thing?

YES! suspend!!! This is a major quality of life improvement. Mind you it should of been in the main release but good job getting it out. Better late than never :)

This is good for this game because it really is an amazing game. Just a little difficult.

One of the main features of this update is the Suspend Cycle functionality, which will allow you to pause your cycle to be continued later, letting you exit the game and turn off your console without losing your progress in that session. The structure of the game remains unchanged, so this functionality is not a traditional mid-game “Save Game” option: by suspending the cycle, Returnal will simply create a single use suspend point, and once you resume playing the suspend point is deleted and cannot be used again. Your game will continue directly from the moment you left it, and if you want to suspend the cycle again, your progress will be captured from that new point onwards. There are some limitations in place – for example, players won’t be able to create a suspend point during Boss battles, cinematics, first-person sequences or during intense combat scenarios – as we felt there are certain moments in Returnal that are best experienced unfragmented to preserve the intended challenge and flow. I already beat the game multiple times.
I’ll recommend the game to everyone. While it’s a short game( once you get good at it you can beat it in under 2 hours) it’s replayability is off the charts.

Still waiting for a checkpoint, save option, but this will have to do. Now I can get back into this game👏👏👏 ;

That game kept me on edge at all times. It sucked getting hit unnecessarily when it could have been avoided.

Yeah, could have really used that some months ago like when the game first came out. I did finish the game after a lot of frustration with crashing at boss fights and system updates when in rest mode.

So House Marque finally figured out how to implement a save method.

Might go back to platinum the game since I can officially save now. Looking forward to a better experience all of the updates

I applaud Housemarque for sticking to their guts and made the game they envisioned and that was the game we got at launch. it's magnificent and stayed true to the genre they are shooting for (pun?). now they have shown their vision, and it looks like many have issues with it despite this being the core mechanic in this genre. It's understandable that people want to have a bit of freedom in how they play their games (would be nice to have a pause button in the cinemas too, I guess) and now they delivered that with this update. I was one of those holding off for Returnal due to its game mechanic choice that I simply couldn't fulfil considering my situation, so this is a nice update and I will definitely buy this game now and play it at the pace I am able to. I mean, I was only able to finish and platinum R&C after playing sparingly for almost 3 weeks and yet to finish Spider-man MM after 2 weeks. I do participate in a couple of online races on GT Sport daily for the daily reward at least but that's how limited my gametime is, currently.

Not all games need go be and especially not all devs should. Sony's devs are most talented in making single player and that's what made Sony's first party great and it should stay that way. Since I am a full grown adult and make money, I would love to pay for premium games as long as they are good and complete experiences.

This was one of the first games I played once I got my PS5, it's amazing and I still feel like it's criminally underrated, but at least this team gets to make a successor to this with their next game. I'm definitely going to start a fresh run on the Pro soon.

I tried it after the patch and really enjoyed the visuals. The 3d audio is also so great.

lol this game CD came with my PS5 back in 2021 when i purchased it for christmas. I never played it lol. I've never played it. I have a PS5 pro now..... maybe its time open the box and play it on my PS 5 Pro now.
