Dunno I have never played the game the remake comes out in October so I will find out what makes Alan Wake so special.

Yui_Suzumiya1688d ago

Hopefully you'll love it as much as I did when I played it 10 years ago 😁

RaiderNation1688d ago

What makes it so special? Xbox fans who've overrated and overvalued it for years and years.

Neonridr1688d ago

if you've played it you would know.

Snookies121688d ago

I mean, it's a good game. Not a great one, but good. Not really sure why it's so "special" though either.

MadLad1688d ago (Edited 1688d ago )

Bold claim, being it has been viewed as a cult classic for years now, was highly successful on PC, and I've seen much want for a Playstation port for years now.

Let alone people's want for a sequel.
Yeah; we'll go with the Xbox fanboy propping it up angle though.

I want a sequel . The story was great . I hope they get rid of the flashlight I hated it , but the story was right up my alley . Xbox games do get overrated but Alan Wake is worthy of praise maybe not all of it but it’s worthy of most of it . Better than Deathloop for sure and it’s crazy tens by ign and whoever

jznrpg1688d ago (Edited 1688d ago )

Good story . Combat not so good but I love games with good stories and despite my current dislike for Xbox (not at the time my 360 didn’t die 4 times yet and haven’t heard years of spin yet either) I do say Alan Wake is worth playing and is a good game . I do think it gets overrated but I love Deadly Premonition and it’s one of my favorite games to play all time despite being one of the jankiest games ever so I’m guilty too .

Lotr ? Which was shot in new Zealand.

Neonridr1688d ago

For me it was always the story and the writing. The way they crafted this spooky setting in some remote town. How each episode played like a TV show where the start of a new chapter gave you a recap of the previous one. It gave off a Twin Peaks / Twilight Zone feel to this game. The combat got a little repetitive by the end, but it was still totally worth the play through. For those who haven't tried it out you should definitely look into the remake coming next week.

jznrpg1688d ago

Yep good story . I almost hate Xbox but I got to give some love to Alan Wake . It’s overrated though but many games are . Only matters what we think about games personally in the end .

TheColbertinator1688d ago

I liked the Twin Peaks vibe. Other games with similar vibes were Deadly Premonition and Beyond Two Souls (to a lesser extent).

A Late Look: Alan Wake

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "All in all, it’s not hard to see why Alan Wake has received a bit of a cult following (there’s that famous foreshadowing again). It’s a title that blends themes and gameplay, while pushing the limits of storytelling by putting stories within stories and letting you read those stories before you get to that part in… the story. It has flaws, to be sure - the gameplay side can’t quite keep up with the rest of its ambitions - but overall it’s a great game that stands out among its peers and is undeniably… one for the books."

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

gigoran8761d ago

wait, that place is real? national lampoon wasn't kidding?

jznrpg173d ago

People sometimes call Wal-Mart Wally World including myself

Tacoboto760d ago

I just bought two of the MonsterVerse Godzilla movies on 4K - both had digital copies expiring in 2023. Both were actually expired.

I'd be surprised but it's WB, of course they'd actually expire them

Knightofelemia761d ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Chocoburger761d ago

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie761d ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

Profchaos761d ago

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie761d ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

Asplundh761d ago

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.
