First Look at Bayonetta 3 Gameplay

A new-look Bayonetta returns to battle foes with her signature Witch Time! This time, she’ll wield her new Demon Masquerade ability to channel the power of demons and engage in larger-than-life action.

-Foxtrot1717d ago

Really digging this new look for her however did they change her voice?

gamer78041716d ago

They seemed to cut away from her a lot especially while doing her hair moves, wonder if that was deliberate

_SilverHawk_1716d ago

The game looks so outdated and something meant for over a decade ago. To each their own. I thought it looked really bad. I can't wait for the steam deck.

darthv721716d ago

She got some smooth dance moves now.

specialguest1716d ago

@DeathTouch

You're mistaking Nintendo for the current state of Sony censorship. With Sony you'll get flares, mist, light rays, and modest clothing to cover skin. Even Switch games leave things as the developers intended.

https://crappygames.mirahez...

4Sh0w1716d ago

Agreed Silverhawk...looks outdated as hell, feels like a moblie game.

MadLad1716d ago

@deathtouch

Only company typically censoring games nowadays is Sony, honestly.

antikbaka1716d ago

the thing that confuses me the most - "not actual game play" sign in the begining, maybe nothing was real there

antikbaka1716d ago

upd.

devs say on twitter that she will get naked

CrimsonWing691716d ago

I think it was. It really didn’t have the vibe of the previous games. Even her dance was awkward, like usually you see a lot of leg lifting. In this trailer I—I don’t know what you call what she was doing. Not only that but the violence and gore also seemed toned down with a monster with a sword arm just whacking dudes with a swipe.

I was pretty let down by this trailer.

Also keeping on topic with @Foxtrot I thought her new look was an eye soar. They also have a new VA.

annoyedgamer1716d ago

Probably so it wont show nudity on the live feed. Hopefully thats the reason and not straight censorship.

Ryuk_20071716d ago

Her hairstyle is a throwback to the 1st game when she was a child

ZeekQuattro1716d ago

Nice catch. Been a while since I played the first game so I didn't even think of that.

LordoftheCritics1716d ago

Did not think I would be turned off by the graphics so much.

This really looks like PS3 era.

pietro12121716d ago

It's a Switch game, what are you expecting? It looks good for what it is

Yui_Suzumiya1716d ago

PS3 era was the best era though.. I can play the hell out of that stuff.. That's why currently I prefer my Switch Lite over anything else.. Especially for visual novels and FPS's

spwittbold1716d ago

I felt the same. I knew it was a Switch game and all, but I just felt like it still felt more dated than the games usually do on it.

SullysCigar1716d ago

Same here, I'm much more looking forward to Project Eve now, after both gameplay reveals.

Good-Smurf1716d ago

I feel like Platinum still use the same engine from over 10 years ago.

FreeckyCake1716d ago

I think all Platinum Games will have graphics like this from now on. It's not entirely bad as they make up for it with the action, soundtrack, and fascinating concept. But, when comparing Bayonetta 2 to this one, Bayo 2 is obviously superior graphically.

DarXyde1716d ago

They're keeping those frames up, which is really what I care about for an action game like Bayonetta.

masterfox1717d ago

Im sorry but that look like from 2 gens ago, but is from Nintendo so is totally fine Right people? ,even Vanquish looks way superior imo.

Yui_Suzumiya1716d ago

Asuka from Aokana or the wrestler? 😂

Asuka1716d ago

Yes. But also from Aokana

Yui_Suzumiya1716d ago (Edited 1716d ago )

I'm actually playing Aokana right now on the Switch and I'm nearing the end of my first route. Hoping for a Mashiro ending for my first play through. Who would've known Asuka would have turned out to be such a bad ass at flying circus, lol. I also plan on buying the anime as well afterwards.

gamer78041716d ago

That was my concern when they signed with Nintendo for bayonetta 2, It’s going to be forever chained to their lack of power. It doesn’t look bad but imagine what bayonetta could be with project eves graphics.

Neonridr1716d ago

they didn't sign with Nintendo, Nintendo approached them and fully funded development. There wouldn't be a Bayo 2 or 3 without Nintendo. Think about that.

pietro12121716d ago

Without Nintendo there would be no Bayonetta 2 or 3 if they didn't step in and publish. Be thankful

gamer78041716d ago (Edited 1716d ago )

@neon @pietro That’s conjecture , Nintendo probably gave them the most money, which is why platinum said that. But my point stands that I wish the series wasn’t chained to lose end hardware. It’s a fun game and I’ll pick it up for sure but in the back of my mind I’ll be imagining what if…(on next gen systems like ps5 and series x)

pietro12121716d ago

gamer7804
It's fact. Members of Platnium have stated if it wasn't for Nintendo some of their games wouldn't had seen the light of day

Atticus_finch1716d ago

Project eve looks awesome.

meganick1716d ago

Were you expecting 4K visuals and ray tracing on a Switch game?

TheDoomedGuy1716d ago

It's not from Nintendo though....it's from platinum games.

Atticus_finch1716d ago

And don't forget the switch is next gen too. Lol

RaidenBlack1716d ago

Now, only if Nintendo reveals something related to Metroid 4 after Dread releases.

Gianoni331716d ago

Really poor graphics....seems something from ps3....

Sciurus_vulgaris1716d ago

Bayonetta 3 looks kind of low-poly. However, I don’t think it looks too bad for a Switch title. It’s not as cartoony as Nintendo first-party titles. Platinum is targeting a high framerate, and we all know the Switch requires visual compromises to run more complex games at 60fps.

solideagle1716d ago (Edited 1716d ago )

I am not a graphics expert or never cared about Graphics but Super Mario Odyssy, Astral Chain, Skyrim or Hell blade looks far more cleaner and prettier than this (on switch)?
Gameplay looks sick, I wish it was on Next Gen as well. There aren't many Action games especially at DMC 5 level.

RaidenBlack1716d ago

Bayonetta always been about gameplay.
Heck, most Platinum titles are showcase of gameplay rather than graphics.

spicelicka1716d ago

Every GAME is about gameplay, that's not an excuse to have crap graphics. Otherwise we never would have made it past N64.

1716d ago
RaidenBlack1716d ago

@spicelicka
"Every GAME is about gameplay" ~ And I said otherwise? You didn't get the point.
Let me break it down for you, coz I think my simple words were quite obvious above. Anyways.
Some devs emphasizes more on presentation (like Crysis) while some focuses more on varied gameplay elements (like Breath of the Wild).
Got the difference?

Sciurus_vulgaris1716d ago (Edited 1716d ago )

Good to finally see gameplay for Bayonetta 3. However, you I can't help but wonder how much more graphically impressive Bayonetta 3 could be on the PS5 and Series S/X [or even the Xbox One and PS4].

Sgt_Slaughter1716d ago

Then Sony or Microsoft should have ponied up the $$$ for the franchise then, instead Nintendo did that and now it's their exclusive franchise. The game still has nearly a year left in development, it'll undoubtedly get even more polished by the end of 2022.

Om4ever1716d ago

They should have stopped after bayonetta 1... It's so poor on Nintendo hardware

NeoGamer2321716d ago

I expect this a combination of money and love of Nintendo by the developers.

Bayonetta 1 did great on PS3/X360. The choice to move to Nintendo's console exclusively had to be more then just money.

pietro12121716d ago

Too bad Sony and MS didn't want to publish luckily for is Nintendo was there.

Om4ever1716d ago

Luckily for nobody... It's too poor graphically now.

LoveSpuds1716d ago

I know what you mean Sciurus, one can imagine what a graphical and technical showpiece this game would be on the new consoles, especially with how creative you could get with the style of the game.

But I suppose, as others have pointed out, Bayonetta would not exist if it wasn't for Nintendo, they were the only ones willing to take the risk and foot the bill for this series, so I suppose if its a choice of no Beyonetta or a graphically underwhelming Beyonetta, I would chose the latter every time.

Om4ever1716d ago

I would immediatelly choose for no bayonetta

LoveSpuds1716d ago

Have you played Bayonetta or Beyonetta II?

They may not be graphically impressive from a technical standpoint, but the great art style goes a long way and along with stellar gameplay, the games are fantastic. I assume you are a fan of Bayonetta if you are in a forum discussing Bayonetta 3 (rather that some nipple-head who just turned up to dogpile on Nintendo), how can you say you would prefer that Bayonetta didn't exist?

My issue with the games is that because each one is a different Universe you feel like you don't have a good development arc for the characters as each game is a reset. It felt like a cheap way to start a new game without writing around what you wrote or how you ended things in the last game.

It's a concept that's made the games overall story more confusing then it should be.

shinXseijuro40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

You have to be fair with them , knowing that the first game was multiplatform under platinum and sega . second& third are both exclusive Nintendo games . I’m guessing some kind of trade off had to be done for the exclusivity deal with one of the demands being to create a new storyline for the Nintendo games . That came with new lore , new characters and new stakes . As of recently it is said that platinum games re-acquired the rights to bayonetta from sega/Nintendo . I can expect the next game to be more akin to the original game and follow that storyline .

Neonridr40d ago

that report is a rumour completely. As of now Bayonetta is still owned by Sega with Nintendo's involvement for future entries.

shinXseijuro40d ago

@neon

Oh really ? Welp that’s a bummer .
