George Mawle, a former gameplay engineer at Sony Santa Monica Studio who is credited with the handling behind God of War's Leviathan Axe and Blades of Chaos, sadly passed away last Thursday.
A circulating Game Awards teaser statue prompted speculation about Diablo and God of War, but key industry figures state it is tied to neither franchise.
It could either be a new IP, or a long dormant IP that we don't know about. A deep piece of lore that nobody has picked up on. If it's a new IP, what the point of doing this teaser? Nobody will figure it out and it's weird marketing. I'll say it's a old IP making a comeback.
The only game I can think of that involves a wolf and a crocodile might be Rampage, but there is no way their rebooting that IP like this
Could it be SAROS ??? Looks like it might be part of that world design. Alien architecture idk

Deeper analysis on it. If an old IP. It's definitely not in the past 10 years. I think it's a game from the past 20+ years. Why? Well nobody so far is able to figure out what this statue is. Which brings me to think it could be niche 20+ plus year old game. Again New IP? I mean viral marketing can happen but this type of. Marketing makes 0 sense so the chance of a new game are very Slim. IMO of course.
Do I think it's a big game. Tbh it's geoff. Though tbh he's gotten allot better at hyping and tempering expections. I think it'll be divided, niche title that some will be crazy excited for it others will be scratching heads or pissed off. Reception, divided.

If you don't understand that we lost five years of a next Bluepoint game, than I can't help you.
Well Sony gambled with gas and lost regardless of what anyone say we all spoke with our wallets and their linchpin game failed badly forcing them to cancel those and several other games that was in the pipeline. Personally I don’t see it as time wasted just a costly lesson they learned.
Sony had amazing fun games( Warhawk and Starhawk) that could easily be converted to gas and would be successful but they killed them trying to go for the halo killer
LittleBigPlanet is the biggest lost potential Sony had with live service , between costumes, building materials , dlc levels there was money to be made, i know I bought most of the dlcs . Give me a modern game with a fresh servers I'd jump back in. Warhawk was so fun , if I could still play it I still would and be in my forever game list same with KZ2

The Demons Souls remake is STILL one of the best looking games on the console…
Only to find out this last year that their project was a live service GoW (that NO ONE asked for) AND cancelled…
Lots of great games on PS5 and more to come, but anyone who thinks Sony has handled this generation well isn’t paying attention.
And I’m more nervous now because with what Microsoft is doing, they don’t really have competition anymore…

Bluepoint could've just remade the original trilogy. Such a waste of good talent.
Can't believe the original trilogy hasn't been remade yet while Sony has been remastering the same games 3 times. Would love to see what GOW2 could look like.
I can't speak for what a loss he would be to family & loved ones but as far as the video games industry, a Huge loss. What this guy made in terms of gameplay mechanic with those weapons is nothing short of genius. May you never be forgotten.

Man, he deserves more credit. The Leviathan Axe in GoW has gotta be one of the best weapons ever created in a video games. It felt so smooth and fluid, and was just a cool weapon. Like Thor's hammer, but in axe form.
