Psychonauts 2 Review - IGN

Even with a few rough edges, Psychonauts 2 is just about everything I could have hoped for from this long-awaited sequel.

Im really hoping the success of this inspires DF to revisit Brutal Legend.

Orchard1735d ago

+1 they definitely need to revisit BL and bring Jack Black back for more!

edeprez1735d ago

Was that actually good? I remember trying it back in that Era. It really seemed simplistic and just a product of the times, trying to be cool, and funny. I didn't give it more than half an hour though, so it may be just me. Love Jack Black tho, wish he was in more stuff these days...

darthv721735d ago

@ed, yeah it is pretty fun. The music is great (as it is a metal based game), the dialog is funny and it is just an overall good action / hack/slash type of game.

I recall Schaffer said he wasnt planning on making a sequel at the time, then again he was working on this game so things could change.

Fluttershy771735d ago

I hope this game to be a success.
@edeprez yeah Brutal Legend was pretty boring, not good. It had some cool metal songs. The dialog was very boring (particularly the Ozzy's parts) felt like a generic action/ hack and slash with RTS elements? ( which btw felt extremely out of place), it was very ambitious, and of course unique in its intentions but it is definitely a failed product of its time...
@darthv72 I'd love to see a sequel to Grim Fandango (but i don't even know who owns the IP), that was a masterpiece... Of course it is impossible.

NecrumOddBoy1734d ago

The demo for Brütal Legends was epic. The game turned south when you actually found out it was a weird RTS. If it played more like Kingdoms of Amular, it would have been outstanding. Literally an open world metal RPG was epic.

That's a game i never got around to. Maybe they'll do a remaster eventually.

Or maybe it's on steam. I'll look it up.

darthv721735d ago

I know you can get it pretty cheap on PS3 and 360 so there is also that option.

TheDoomedGuy1735d ago

I no longer own those systems so I can't play them there.

gamer78041735d ago

exactly, i hope this does well, but personally i'm not interested in psychonauts but would be a day one buy of brutal legend 2!

Glad to see this turned out good. My sister was a big fan of the first game back in the day.

Ratchet751735d ago

I have been waiting over 15 years for this game and I m glad it was worth it.

Orchard1735d ago

Reviews for the game are looking great - recently replayed the first and I'm super stoked to play this tomorrow.

Not as Good as August we got Lies of P and Day Z.

Terry_B270d ago

Better than August, we got Stardew Valley and Psychonauts 2.

FinalFantasyFanatic269d ago

I think it's more perspective, Lies of P is good, but I already own Psychonauts 2, and I don't care for Stardew Valley, so August was better for me. But if I had none of these games, nor certain preferences, September is the better overall month.

darthv72270d ago

Psychonauts 2 is a fun game.

Abnor_Mal270d ago

Nothing of interest for me this month.

FPSRUSSIA270d ago

same ill be adding them to my Library but wont be playing them.

Abnor_Mal270d ago

Same adding to library but not playing.

thorstein270d ago

Different I'll be playing them but won't be adding them to my library

Neonridr269d ago

I always just add everything to my library so I can download them in the future if I want. These games don't particularly interest me, but good for those who were looking forward to playing them.

Viewfinder is a great puzzle game. A must for fans of puzzles
