This is getting really good as if MS and Sony are about to go into a full out games war! I hope this news is true and I really hope that this game lives up to the hype!

Well Let's see what the PS3 can do , I think It's going to shine like nothing else , look at Motorstorm, it rock's for such a early game in the PS3's era, but I still want more than anything a Unified friends list and cross game invites ,text wouldn't hurt either.......

I think it's safe to say PS3 and 360 fans alike are itching at the chance to see exactly how close this title is to the trailer. I know I am, and I just hope it's outstanding, as that trailer set the bar pretty high for this game.

It's not entirely bad news if it doesn't though, as the projected release date isn't until late this year, so there's still time for polish.

Alternatively, if it DOES look as good as the trailer, the next few months is icing on the cake, as it would be entirely possible for KZ to surpass the trailer/demo in nearly every aspect.

Whatever the case, I know I'm excited.

if when they show this BIG game, it turns out looking worse than they promised, which was essentially that it would look as good or better than the prerendered vid. I get the feeling it will be like with Motorstorm, where they said that while the graphics weren't as good as the target, they had reasons, and not very good ones. Basically they will probably say that while graphics aren't killer, that's because so much work went into something like AI, or level size, just as an excuse.

My 360 will have a for sale notice on it soon.(Just have to finish Lost Planet first). It' time to play beyond, enough of this transitional stuff. (PS. Will we South Africans get PS3 23 March?)

If this does turn out to be a AAA title then Sony will be turning up the heat on MS. GOW is the main game to go by for quality and if Killzone 2 doesn't surpass it then it going to hurt sony bad.

...but why is everyone so excited about this game? Just the promise of the E3 CGI trailer? Although I'll admit I never played the first one on PS2, It was almost universally rated as mediocre (Avg 73% on gamerankings.com) and as far as I know didn't even sell all that well (sold fine, but not like Halo 3, GOW, or GTA numbers - multi-millions of copies).

If Halo CE and Halo 2 were rated an average of 7 on a scale of 10 would everyone be so excited about Halo 3?

I'm certainly not suggesting it can't be a great game - but that's like saying the next Sonic will be a 10 out of 10. I guess I'm as curious to see as the next person though...

Looking at motor storm I think they will be pretty close to the "CG graphics" shown at E3 or maybe exceed. And while this will be a great testament, Halo 3 I can asure you will look just as good as what was shown in its "CG trailer". I remember looking at the KillZone2 trailer, wondering why everyone didn't think the PS3 or for that matter the 360 wasn't capable of doing those type of graphics. I mean if they didn't the "next generation" would and will be highly disappointing. If you look at last gen and how graphics started off looking slightly better than the saturn-ps1 era graphics, then jumping to God of War/Ninja Gaiden type graphics, you can see how graphics evolve and exceed our expectations. The difference is that when we see KZ2 in motion it won't have that same "look" because we have to play the game and things won't be scripted. Now when I say "look" i don't mean graphics, I'm talking about art direction. Either way, we only have a month to see. We as gamers just need to open up our mind and not doubt developers. Now if they were saying they could pull off the graphics in the Transformers movie then thats another thing....

Oh god here we go again second day in a row...um well this COULD be this years GOW type game. The graphics don't HAVE to match that trailer, they just need to look good. But the main thing is going to be how it plays, if it's as cool and smooth as GOW sony are winners if it's buggy like the first game, well than guerilla games needs to shut down. haha j/k but seriously needs to play great thats the big thing. Also to people talking about motorstorm it does not match that trailer, where do people get that? It's like saying warhawk matches the trailer, which it most certainly does not.

thus far said anything about Motorstorm looking like it CG counter part. It looks good on the Sony Bravia tv from afar but upon when I played the thing I noticed slow-down, but I think this is fixed in the retail version or so I hope, and I noticed bad AA and bland textures. I still thought the game was fun though and liked the draw distance. KZ2 will capture the feel and I'm very confident the graphics seen in the trailer. I don't know how it will play though as I haven't played the first one or any games by this developer. And no people, this will not be the BOMB that everyone wants this to be when they display live graphics that are on par with the trailer. Remember HALO 3 will be present and if any game is going to be considered a "console ending" game it would be this one. Normally established franchises have that kind of power not unproven ones.

Just like MotorStorm first trailer was amazing then the real ingame didn,t look like it - the same will gos for KZ2.

looks arent everyrhing. if it looks amazing but plays crappy then theres no point. GOW looks amazing and palys amazing. hopefully guerilla can make a game that is really fun to play and visually stunning. i have high hopes for this game

Animation, AI, physics, particle fx. Hell, even those volumetric clouds and explosions need to be intact. Microsoft has spent the past year and a half saying that their console is just as powerful as Sony's. This is Sony's chance to prove them wrong...permanently.

In the Killzone PS3 forum at www.playstation.com a poster called thedynamite007 ads a comment to the upcoming game. He says:

"Just promise us that this coming Killzone games will inject something new to the already tiresome FPS genre. We want to see something fresh which feels that you are playing a new kind of a game. Graphics, gameplay, innovation, technology etc. that should warrant the game to be called NEXT GEN".

The lead tester, motherh, answers: "I heard you the first time.. and the 5th time. You'll have to wait and see."

game. That trailer just seemed too real, and the graphics just looked sick. Say waht you want 360 fanboys, but Gears Of War doesnt even come close to the trailer of Killzone. I want PS3 to be able to deliver Killzone, the way it was shown in that trailer, but i highly doubt that it will look like that. It just LOOKED TOO GOOD. I just cant imagine a console producing realtime graphics like that, or a high end PC. Atleast not so soon after the consoles launch. I'd say, maybe in about 3 years or so.
But IF, and its a BIG IF,....IF they pull it off, I will be amazed.

I'm willing to get MGS4 and Killzone 2 and a PS3 which will sit next to my Xbox 360. I have got Killzone 1 and i completed it on easy and normal, i couldn't be asked to do it hard, but my PS2 can't play Killzone 1 anymore lol. I want to see an ingame trailer for this game, if not then i think Sony have failed to deliver.

i think sony has the ability to do that.because WE KNOW HEAVENLY SWORD IS NOT A TARGET VIDEO ANYMORE.remember that gas station explosion demo they were showing long ago?just using cell to produce it?it will happen.probally in 8 DAYS too.if ninja theory can do it,then i think another sony dev can do it.

If you've got KillZone I and you've already finished on normal and easy, put in the profile name "Shooterman" and watch what happens. Also if you ever get the PS3, put the old KZ game in and turn the dfficulty to HARD. Got to the PArk and play a DM with you against 14 bots. It's hours of mindless fun and damn good practice with the weapons - the AI's not too bad either. You can even go like 2 on 10 DM to see how good you really are.

Question for anyone that knows. Is there a way that I can play KZ online with my old PS2 configuration? I've bought the PS2 memory card adaptor for the PS3, but everytime I go to log on and get in the lobby it tells me that it's not the original console on which the configuration was created. Well, duh? But I can't seem to find a workaraound that will alllow the game to connect via the PS3's built in network config. I mean I could switch over to one of the PS2's, but What gives? Workaround for the PS3?

A/W - you all know how I feel abou this game and what it meand to SNE. THis is it. If it comes out during the GDC and there's a playable demo, it better rock the house. I mean it doesn't have to heat up milk and bake cookies, but it's got to be Motorstormish plus 1. Know what I mean? Good gaming everyone.

i found halo1 boring.i got halo2 for free as a manager going to a retreat for a company.i played up to playing as the enemy and got bored.multiplayer was fun.but that was old after awhile.why are you excited for halo3?

could it be people have different preferences in games?hmmmmmm......learn something new every day.

of Oblivian in the hands on preview from IGN, and after staring at the screens of both the ps3 and the xbox i've come to find that the ps3 version looks even sharper and brighter. a whole new level of detail was aquired. suffice to say that bethesda knows what it's doing, it just proves that developers can achieve what ever they want when they spend the time and quality effort. and that we should never belittle them simply because the first try wasn't that hot.

Now as for this KZ ps3 thing.... it's like the internet is on fire these past few days with everything concerning this Game, and really i'm starting to even think that GG is crafting something that will utterly blow our mind, Gears of war made games like oblivian and FNR3 and GRAR that got 9s and 10s in graphics look like 7s and 8s... and people didn't think it would look that great, and look, epic basically knocked the heads off gamers everywear and noone can deny that epic set a bar, that has developers going wow thats kinda high,.... Guerilla Games has invested in 120+ members thats over 3 times the staff that worked on the orignial Killzone and well, well well well over 20 mill in money to see that this game looks even 98% if not 100% as good as THAT NOTORIOUS AND HOTLY DEBATED TRAILER!!!! if that much effort was and money and many people was placed into a game Soney must think that this IS THE SOLE REASON to buy a ps3 not even MGS4 and FFXIII will matter if the game even 95% as good as THAT TRAILER.... and i'm telling you if the world sees this game looking that great no matter what halo 3 looks like and it better look like that trailer PS3s will be even harder to find than the Wii... I have reason to believe that GG set the bar HIGH for them selves so they invested this much Time, Money,m People, and labor because their reputation is greatly on the line.... and if this Game looks like that trailer and then a release date of fall 2007 or Oct-NOV 2007 shows after that trailer or Demo them OMG it's a done deal, all i can say is i have Hi hopes on THE GAME THAT WILL DEFINE THE PS3 as NEXT GEN or something on par with the 360 becaus eif this games doesn't look like that trailer then GG will have damaged it's self and we'll all go back to looking to MGS4 and FFXIII being the bombshells for the ps3

i worshipped the original. i got my perminant gamer tag from that game and its still holds my best online experience of all games including all my 360 LIVe.

this game is ganna shock the world. im ganna work and bust my ass this spring and get a ps3 becauseim just about foaming at the mouth for this game. amazing is all i have to say for anticipation.

killzone one was a beautiful, and well designed, FPS ps2 game in my opinion.Too bad i missed out on liberation for the psp. MGS:PO! got in my grasp.

This game will look like Resistance. Actually, now that I think of it, Killzone reminds me of Resistance. Just watched some killzone 1 vids from ign and it reminds me of Resistance more than anything else. Hope it won't just be Resistance with better graphics.

bungie have said halo 3 is playable to the end so if sony show kz2 they will show halo 3 its going to happen.

sony will be showing new stuff.

....so will microsoft (360 and pc)

It has been denied, KZ2 will not be at CDG this year so everyone can just calm down now. KZ2 will be released when its ready and thats all that matters, so will H3, and I am sure everyone will benefit from these releases on their respective system.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

So now there's certifiable proof that Ryan was in fact "fired", as opposed to when it was first announced that he "retired", in order to save face.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
