Despite comparisons between the Nintendo Switch and the Steam Deck, Valve's Gabe Newell says that the two platforms are designed around differing philosophies.

This unlikely duo will have no trouble winning you over.

Another Genesis-inspired shooter for the collection? Yessir!

Hope you like cheese puns and great action.
Well it makes sense. The only comparison really both are handheld gaming devices. The steam deck is a lot more powerful than the switch and has better controls. The steam deck also will play thousands of games available on steam and will play new games releasing this generation that the switch will never be able to play
It's typically the gaming articles that like to make this comparison and fuel the console/handheld divide and war
They have similarities but Nintendo is still off doing their own thing. Unlike with Steam Deck, Valve can see the portable flop and they can easily scrap support since Steam is their main cash cow. Nintendo has no choice but to support the Switch completely since they depend on it so heavily.
At least the difference in the business sense.
Why would they? Apart from portability, they have very little in common.
Both have their place for me. I'll be using steam deck to play my steam library on the go, and Switch for Exclusives and multiplayer games. Let's be real though, the Deck wouldn't exist without the Switch.
