The Steam Deck has accessibility experts concerned about how text and UI will look on a small screen.

Will the steam deck have an easy mode? I pretty tired of these other platforms just being too hard. I mean, how many buttons to I have to push. I wasn't able to get past the first screen on my switch.

If the writer isn't actually an activist, this article is scum click material.

Hot take apparently but I think this is actually a fair issue to bring up. If handheld PC gaming is going to become a thing, then developers should probably take these text and UI issues into account going forward.

PC games being played on the Steam Deck weren't designed for a small 720p screen, so text might become difficult and a bit taxing to read depending on the game, whereas on the Switch this is more likely to be taken into account during the porting process.

No, they were designed mostly for 1080p or 1440p or 4k ... what do this mean? that the less the resolution the bigger the text; there will be no problem if any at all ...

"there will be no problem if any at all ..." There's already footage of the device being used ( https://www.youtube.com/wat... and the text looks very small on many games in the available footage.

Text size increases with a lower resolution but not with screen size and there's obviously a huge difference between how it will look on a 26" screen and a 7" screen.

You can adjust the UI within settings in just about every game on PC, there's even mods and .ini tweaks for stuff like this. PC isn't a closed platform, and the Steam Deck isn't any different.

I know they can be adjusted manually but both the UI and the graphics settings for future games should have Steam Deck configurations.

@LucasRuinedChildhood
Gotta remember that this is a PC in a portable form factor, it's all about options. If Valve wants to have their own configuration profiles, both official and community supported like say with game controllers through Big Picture Mode on Steam then theoretically they could, but it should always remain optional. For all we know they probably already have something like this setup between desktop and portable switching modes.
