I'm really struggling to see the point. They could have used this opportunity to increase the power a bit (yes Nintendo don't really go the power route, but it would have enabled more ports to come across) and storage is incredibly cheap now. A 256/512gb drive would have cost them nothing. And the exact same battery inside so no life improvement. And it's more expensive too

Tbh, were we surprised that Nintendo would do this? It feels like they are somewhat out of touch with the consumer.
The Switch is a cool idea, but it's riddles with blindly running forward, with the low quality of games on the Eshop, and the way Nintendo hyped up "we have over 1000 games!" adverts, just to sound like they know what they were doing, and half the games were years old mobile games....

Now the rumours and hype behind a Switch Pro is out in the open, Nintendo could've caught wind and then postponed the Switch XL and gone for better specs and sold a more expensive unit that many would've bought.

God knows why anyone thought that the switch would get improved specs, they are still selling like hotcakes. 99% of people on here don't have any business sense...at all.
Also, DLSS could be coming to the switch as the Tegra chip might get a revision, that would help performance wise quite a lot.

Even if someone has no interest in an Xbox, a Series S and a Gamepass sub for 6 mos is the same price as this thing. Microsoft should be licking their chops right now!

I only use my Switch in dock mode, and I was hoping for at least Xbox1X, or PS4 Pro specs. This is disappointing and the Pro is a NO for me.

I get why people are disappointed, but as someone who has been holding out on buying a switch, and loves OLED over LCD, this is awesome news

A longer-lasting battery would have been nice and possibly worth the upgrade if your original became faulty. But as it is, I don't think the increase in price is worth it.

I love Nintendo's games, but the pricing being midway between the Xbox Series S and the digital version of the PS5 is...questionable in terms of value. I'm pretty confident Nintendo could have boosted it beyond 2017 Switch tech at a very reasonable cost to them. I don't mean even trying to compete with Xbox and PlayStation, either. Just to run games smoother if nothing else like a "boost mode" type of improvement.

Disappointing, yes. I wonder if a more powerful chip was supposed to be in it, but the chip shortage made it hard to do? Maybe Nintendo is just dividing their already ordered Tegra X1 Mariko chips between the Switch and OLED Switch. Oh well. Either way, disappointing.

And the sad and unfortunate reality is that this will actually sell really well giving Nintendo the false confirmation that this was a sound business decision and what the consumers actually wanted.

I do have a mclassic cable that I sometimes plug into my switch and it boosts the resolution to 1440p. I'll just stick with that. Where's Mario Kart 9, Fzero, a new Super Mario Strikers, New Mario Tennis, New Waverace???? The dedicated Nintendo fan usually gets burned. Half of their games are wii u ports and since most casuals didn't buy a wii u they were all content with the wii u Ports because they didn't play them while the Nintendo fan got screwed playing Mario kart 8 for another 5 yrs on top of the few years they put into the wii u Mario kart 8. Nintendo is extremely lazy because they know everyone will continue to buy their games. They were so lazy they couldn't even make Mario Sunshine in the Collection 60fps. Unbelievable.

If they are going to stick with the Switch they should release a new one every 4 years if they want to keep up with hardware improvements. And the dock needs to have separate hardware to boost the power.

Expect the Switch 2 to have lesser specs than expected then because they like to do the minimum there is.

straight up disappointing. this was a wasted opportunity imo. most ppl playing on switch don't really care about the visuals as much as say xbox and playstation and its not even capable of doing the stuff those consoles can do so its weird that the biggest upgrade is to the screen itself. the things OLED screens improve are things like HDR etc which Switch doesn't even support so I'm baffled why the biggest upgrade expense went to the screen. They could have just made a bigger LCD screen and it would cost less. a wired LAN connection? Was this a priority for Switch? Online multiplayer on switch isn't like throwing down on some eSports type scenario. The Switch online services are barely existent as is and I doubt anybody playing Splatoon multiplayer are worried about ping times - most probably dont even know what that means. and a bigger kickstand?? this feels like a feature to throw in the additional info section or make sure its seen in the product shot, not featured for an extended period of time in the announcement trailer. This has cash grab written all over it and sadly ppl will buy it up.
