Speculations, nothing but speculations....Sony why are you full of it this gen? Again with the waiting game? When are they going to learn to stop announcing games, interfaces and FW so damn early.

There is a rumor going around that Wild Arms,Legend of Dragoon 2,and Dark Cloud 3 are being created by internal studios at Sony.

Media Division did make the first Wild Arms for Sony on previous consoles.

Legend of Dragoon was developed internally by Sony Japan for the PS2 and I expect the same for part 2 from Sony Japan

Dark Cloud 3 is an old rumor but its credible.I have already read 3 different sources stating that it could come out after Level 5 finishes WKC.

It all makes sense because these are internally developed and they don't even have to ask a company like Square Enix or Atlus to do it.

Sony simply need to churn out software which appeals to Japanese gamers and the rest will take care of itself. FFXIII, Versus and WKC are going to do a hell of a lot for PS3 so the more the merrier.

I thought we had moved on from these spiky haired adolescent games. Rpg's like Mass Effect and Oblivion have moved the genre forward so much that these games look ridiculous.

i didnt really enjoy oblivion or mass effect but fallout 3 was alsome, i think jrpg are still the best dragon quest 8 is my favorite for the ps2, and now sony is bringing it back. gud job.

Western RPGs and Japanese RPGs are different in many ways and innovate separately in their own genres.Besides I prefer playing both especially Bioware and Level 5 games

You have great incentive to bring in third party support by offering a competing product on your platform. Microsoft's relationship with Mistwalker is a good example of this. If Mistwalker became Microsoft's Square/Enix, that would be lost sales for Square since they would have more competition if they decided to support the platform later. The same can be said of Saints Row. If you are the developer of Grand Theft Auto, you don't want to see competition built up anywhere.

This relationship can take an entirely different direction if a platform starts creating more first party software that is in direct competition with a desired third party developer. By bringing in more first party RPG's this could give incentive to a developer like Square to push multi-platform even harder since they have less potential sales on a given platform.

This is a delicate balance a console maker that develops first party games has to maintain. There are ways to over come this like limiting the amount of competing games you create and launching in windows that are less threatening. You can even offer to publish third party games or reduce costs through lower royalties or increased development support. The one thing you don't want to do is kick them in the jimmy and tell them you don't need them. Variety is very important in console gaming.

No console brand will ever top PlayStation's legacy of RPG quality. And "exclusive" is a term MS should never use. SCE dwarfs competitors and houses exclusives. Even Bill Gates said they are a "game company" in sly reference to the whole Sony electronics name. Well Bill, you MS guys sure are not a game company. So stop pretending to be a game company and get to work making...I don't know...GAMES. :)

I know they sell well on ps3 and help it out a lot, but god I'm so sick of the turn-based combat. Make a WRPG like Mass Effect or Oblivion. Or even that awesome last-gen console RPG back in the day Baulders Gate or Baulders Gate: Dark Alliance those are the kinds of RPGS that are really awesome. Whats the fun in standing in one place the whole game button mashing the attack or magic button and waiting for the person to do the attack, then waiting for the enemy to attack you. IMO that's boring as hell. Ah well to each his own.

i would love Rogue Galaxy 2, Dark Cloud 3, Grandia 4, and Legend of Dragoon 2...

and any other NEW action rpgs, and rpgs (like WKC) will also be greatly appreciated Sony

even though the only one that i really enjoyed was fallout 3 the jrpgs, from back in the day are still the best final fantasy 7, 8, 10, dark cloud 1-2, kingdom hearts, and my personal favorite dragon quest 8. im sorry but mass effect sucked and oblivion was increibly boring, bring those jrpgs back.

For the record, I'm having a VERY hard time finding anything about the monthly Famitsu magazine at ALL. All I can find are their platform-specific magazines and their weekly one. Can't find any info about ANY monthly issue. Not sure what's going on here. Is the weekly one THE Famitsu magazine, or is there supposed to be a monthly one that I'm not finding here?

Either way, it's going to be rather hard for anyone to confirm this unless someone can actually find where you can find info on the monthly version (if there is one. Don't know how Famitsu publishes the mag and their site, even translated, is a friggin pain to get through).

legend of dragoon is my all time favourite rpg game and the first rpg i played when i got the sony playstation i have to its amy favourite sony game out of all games up till now even and i would buy the sequal over any final fantasy game or any other game for that matter
it just really awsome i could talk hours about it in fact i remeber all of the places in the game and the music too and the movie scenes it was so good ever since i got the ps3 i decided to play it againd and im going to play this every 6 months or every year till the second one comes out and gonna play the over and over again

still have the original copy and would glady get it on psn for the sake of it i must have all and any form of different type of copies

5 Games that won't be out for 5 years more like!

M$ on the other hand, only announce games that will be out WITHIN the year.

working on titles for the PS3. what did you THINK they were working on?

seriously, people want Sony to announce EVERYTHING they have on the table at one moment, but then they'd just turn around and complain when the game didn't release 6 months after that initial announcement.

quality takes TIME to produce.

people got SO excited when Microsoft announced, then released, RPG after RPG, after RPG, but just about ALL of those RPGs have been, honestly, mediocre.

i have no doubt that games like Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Infinite Undiscovery, and even The Last Remnant, would have been much better games given an additional 6-12 months of dev time.

look at Killzone 2. it was looking AMAZING when they finally revealed it in gameplay form at E3 2007. if it was released last holiday season, or even Feb of this year, a lot of Playstation 3 owners would have been happy, sure, but the game wouldn't be what it is NOW. as hard as it is to believe, looking BETTER than when they showed it last year, and PLAYING better as well (thanks to that beta, no doubt).

a LOT of Sony's devs have yet to show off what they're working on.

i'm sure some of them are working on RPGs. if anything, Level 5 is working on White Knight Story, Dark Cloud 3, and Rogue Galaxy 2. that's 3 RPGs from possibly the BEST RPG house in the industry, ALL exclusive to the PS3.

if Sony's other studios resurrect Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Legaia, Alundra, Okagi, and a few more, it would be simply icing on the cake.

the games are certainly coming, but some people need to simply be patient. as if we'd be able to buy ALL of the awesome titles coming out if they released at once. just LOOK at what happened THIS holiday season, when a slew of awesome games hit. i STILL haven't picked up everything on my list, sadly.

Once Legend of Dragoon 2 comes out the pitiful Xbot lemmings will commit suicide realising the only JRPGs they have are flops like Star Ocean 4, Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovered, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and Too Human (the 10 year Flop).

Furthermore Square Enix will go bankrupt because we Sony boys and girls realize we don't need the eXbox flops anymore.

I hope Sony launches an RPG(s) on the same style of a Oblivion/Fallout3/Mass Effect because as a super fun of Everquest(MMoRPG) I really loved the idea to make a ,err, single player MASSIVE game.

5 RPG's? Damn, I like the sound of that. I liked Eternal Sonata, and even Enchanted Arms (not great, but not horrible either). The PS3 is missing a truly great J-RPG. It already has two great PC-style RPG's (Oblivion, Fallout 3), but sometimes I just want some random battles and over the top dramatics.

I didn't really like Folklore, which I found pretty surprising, considering I'm a huge fan of horror movies/games and that one seemed like it would be up my alley.

A new Wild Arms would be awesome. The 1st one is one of my favorite games and I loved the 3rd one, one of my favorite J-RPG's ever.

RPG's are kinda over rated when it comes to selling systems.

Oblivion was not boring either...Had many many gameplay hours as does fallout 3. I'm just saying along those kinds of RPGS there should be more. JRPGS are f!cking slow as hell button mashing the attack button or the defense button or magic etc...then having to wait for the enemy to do the same thing to you. THAT is boring. Real time combat is more fun as well as more realistic. JRPGS are a waste of time IMO. I really don't know why they sell well at all, but seeing as they're all from japan I can imagine why they do sell as much as they do. Japanese are a strange people, no offense.

all the good stuff are happening now, the more JRPGS arrived the more it seals the fate for the 360....
