No it's not. You see these deals all the time. Even in ads for those ripoff rent a center places where you end up paying like $2000 for game systems, but it's always the Xbox you see advertised for some reason.
Anyway, guess this makes sense. Since all Xbox games are on Windows now, they might as well throw in a whole console when you buy a Surface. Maybe you can download a 3D printed Xbox when you buy a Dell in the future too.
if they want to put themselves in the good light, and at the same time get rid of all the og xbox ones, give them to shelters for kids who are in abused families, or hospitals, hospices even.
No, Nyxus. Xbone constantly has similar deals since February 2016 till today. You don't do these deals when your are comfortable at your sales. Like PS4 for example. And those deals didn't do shit in NPD.

Yes, they want to get rid of all the older models before the end of next year. I doubt they are manufacturing anymore of the bulky XB1's. It'll be XB1 S from now on, which is a good thing.
That's a very plausible explanation. Regardless of the reasoning behind the marketing of this, if you do not already own the XB1 and were also looking to get a Surface Pro 4, this is actually a pretty decent deal. However, the SP 4 is pretty damn expensive so at that rate, at least for what I'd prefer, you would be better off taking that money and building a gaming PC. My 2 cents.

I don't know about you but not owning an XB1 and playing on a gaming PC, that is one hell of a deal.
Its been hard to sell these things since launch from back in 2013. I remember Microsoft lying about xbox ones being sold out of stock and every game shop id go to id see loads stacked up. They even had first day editions in stock a year after launch unsold.
Its clear why Microsoft are putting all their xbox exclusive games on pc now and why they announced not one but two new xbox consoles in the same press event. I wont say Microsoft xbox is doomed but its not doing well. They are now giving away free xboxes with a tablet. Wow

Last year, the deal was you got a free Xbox One with the purchase of a 500$ Samsung TV.

Its funny though this is a NA promotion where the Xbox still has a large market ( not as large as PS4) so its not a hard sell, Microsoft is clearly trying to clear inventory while selling other products through their gaming incentive. Keep spinning it though

I have seen sony promotions giving away ps4 consoles with tv purchases. They were not desperate, so why is ms? It was a promotion to help sell a more expensive product. Same here, they want windows 10 in more homes, coupled with windows anywhere games it is a smart promotion.
