Prices can’t come down when ding-dongs can get some extremely common game graded and expect it to sell on eBay for 10X the actual market value. Listings like that virtually ensure prices will stay higher than Snoop Dogg.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

What drives the price is condition the game is in with or with out original packaging, condition of the disc or the label on a cartridge, how rare is the game, how good a game is, how much demand there is for that game. I own ET on the 2600 and Superman 64 just to say I own two shitty games. Prices are only going to go up because of this stuff is getting rarer and rarer out in the wild because collectors are sitting on this stuff on their shelves. I like to collect but I am not going to go out of my way to buy a game like Earthbound for my SNES collection. I have played the game and it's not for me I collect games that pique my interest and that I enjoyed playing as a kid. If a game does not pique my interest I am not going to collect it. Best way to save a bit of cash when looking for a game is look under the untested section for games on Ebay. I did that with Shinobi for the SMS I know its a gamble but all the pins needed where a little iso alcohol and the game runs great. I even bought a few untested consoles little elbow grease new thermal paste here new disc drive belt and I have two working og Xboxes. Untested sold as is is a big gamble I have had a few duds but I ended up winning more then losing. I even bought a broken Saturn and Dreamcast took out the lasers and now they can boot from an SD card.
Who is this idiot?
You can grade some extremely common game all you want, doesn't mean it is worth that much or will sell for the price indicated.
"Prices literally can’t drop when there are too many copies on eBay just sitting there, holding the price some scalper put on them when prices were high, and that scalper is too indignant to lower the price or remove the listing. One eBay seller isn’t going to list his game at the *real* price of $35 when some scalper has the same game listed in worse condition for like $150."
Idiotic statement, no one is going to buy game at over valued prices. Doesn't matter if it is a bot scalper or not. An eBay seller WILL list their product/game at the real price when it continually doesn't sell. It's not hard to look up similar products and see what they actually sold for. As for scalpers they are not dictating the retro game market, this isn't the new gen system scenario.
This "ghetto gamer" is more like a ghetto whiner. Stop letting trash articles like this get approved.
It worth how much someone is willing to pay. It isn't that complicated. Price will go down if no one is willing to pay the asking price and likewise.
Thankfully flash carts exist. I'll gladly pay for 1 cart and play everything on it, including translations, balance patches, new fan levels, etc.
I have flash carts for my Famicom, Super Famicom, Genesis (which includes Master System, Game Gear, as well as Sega CD), and Nintendo 64.
And of course ODEs for disc based systems as well. Buying overpriced games off ebay is such a waste.
