Rather than relying on thousands of bullets, R-Type had complex levels with moving walls and sneaky attack patterns which could only be learnt by trial and error and players pumped millions of coins in to the arcade cabinets trying to get just a little further each play."

Richard writes: "The R-Type series recently reached the ripe old age of 35 years. In gaming terms, it is one of the old boys now, but this didn’t stop R-Type Final 2 coming out to strong reviews back in 2021. And the post-release has been consistent also. In fact, today even has two new sets of DLC for R-Type Final 2 on Xbox and PlayStation. But don’t worry, you don’t need to purchase both of them."

After nearly 20 years, R-Type Final 2 is back and it brings along with it some stellar visuals and great action gameplay. This is the first R-Type title to release outside Japan since 2009, so this is a big deal for western gamers and fans of horizontal shooters. Check out Jason Capp's review for more.

R-Type Final 2's DLC Set 4 was released only recently and the final boss has already been censored in the United States and Europe.
Lol yeh I can see the resemblance. They love their phallic imagery in 'ol Nihon. Reminds me of the crestworms in Fate/Zero.
Or maybe the prblem is with people that immediately see a big purple penis alien....
