Returnal crashes may be a hardware problem, not within the game itself.

While it’s certainly not affecting everyone, a number of Returnal players are experiencing crashes while playing the game. This is something Housemarque has acknowledged, although it’s suggested that the PlayStation 5 is the problem – and not necessarily the game.

Oh if it's the PS5 I guess Sony has to step up?

Thundercat771836d ago

I have more than 10 hours and it only crashed 1 time in the first hours when I was constantly changing suits each run. I have stayed with the same suit and haven't had any crash.

I wouldn't blame the hardware without more deep analysis on the situation.

Orchard1836d ago

I think we can trust Housemarque to have done that deep analysis before blaming their publishing partner Sony.

But it sounds more like it’s a problem with the PS5 OS or developer SDK - not the actual hardware (aka something they can fix via a system update, not by recalling hardware).

hmmm not sure about that, there was point that I reset the cycle manually , and when trying to enter the first area the door just wont opened had to restart the game, and there was another area in the 2nd dome were you fall down to a secret room and teleport back, and in this area I wasn't able to go back cause it never appeared the Teleport button, had to reset again, so I really don't think is a hardware level issue , also this started to happen when I opened up the 2nd dome several hours later, didn't had any issue while playing the first dome for lots of hours and also put my PS5 in Sleep mode several times and didn't have any issues, also I hear when changing to different suits this start to happen, still who knows in the meantime will just play with the original one. I'm pretty sure Housemarque is looking into all the things and not just blaming straight away the console.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing12d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit12d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing12d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9212d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
