Bravely Default 2 offers a refined experience with a few exciting elements but doesn't quite grasp the experimental design it was shooting for.

A message was posted on the official Bravely Default account on X (as spotted by user Stealth), to celebrate the third anniversary of the latest game in the series, Bravely Default 2.
The message, written by producer Tomoya Asano, suggests that a new announcement related to the series will be coming later in 2024.
Nice. I really enjoyed Bravely Default 2. Surprised they didn't port 1 and Bravely Second at some point.

Daily Video Game writes: "Amazon is having a new game sale on several popular games, offering savings of up to 60% off on a variety of indie and AAA titles across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch platforms right now!"

Daily Video Game writes: "Amazon is slashing prices on several action-adventure, fighting, RPG, shooter, and simulation games across multiple gaming platforms right now, including many popular titles like Grand Theft Auto V, Resident Evil 2, Bravely Default II, and many more for a limited time!"
"But there such a thing as too comfortable, too complacent. Bravely Default 2 feels like it wants its players to be warm and safe and unprovoked, but its audience might be reaching for something new, something surprising, and Bravely Default 2 is not that."
I still need to see for myself exactly how "safe" it is, but at first, this is a positive for me. Square Enix tries to do "new and surprising things" in Final Fantasy all the time, and it's been very long since I actually loved a FF game...
Between MMORPGs (XI and XIV), single player MMORPG-like (XII), linear (XIII), open world (XV), each with a different battle system, not one of them reaches the heights of the old games. Gee, even VII Remake, when they actually could have played it safer, they tried to innovate and add timelines, whispers and Kingdom Hearts-like dialog and ruined it.
So, coming from Square Enix, playing it safe may actually be a good thing. If I remember well, Dragon Quest XI also doesn't change much from the DQ formula, and it's considered one of the best in the series.
