yeh its quite tragic. especially if u point it out to them, they get all defensive and such.
thats mostly the reason why i never own more than a handful of games.

I've had every single Nintendo console since SNES (Wii U excluded). When I had a choice as a child between a PS1 and a N64, for me it was a no brainer. Nintendo were already then known to have high quality games. I now own a PS4 and Swtich, and when the Switch came out it was really awesome! But now I find it lacking in games. The latest game I bought was Super Mario 3D All-Stars, and those are old games. Was really fun to play again, but the Switch really needs a lot of new games made for the Switch. None of these remakes that cost Nintendo very little to port to Switch, and they are just reselling the same old products. Very lacking in imagination and depth, very unlike Nintendo. Seems they want to do an Apple and play it safe and just hope that the fanboys will keep buying.

Ever since Reggie Fils-Aimé left Nintendo, it feels as if the company has been lacking in motivation to keep producing top quality content that is a joy for the all the senses when playing a game. The concept that Nintendo has been known for ever since the 80s seems to have faded away for the past 1-2 years.

Nintendo needs to stop trolling streamers and stealing their ad revenue .

No doubt that Nintendo do exploit their fans love of their core franchises but I have to say, I bought far more games for my Switch than I ever did for my XB1 and I have been happy to do so as the games themselves are generally of a really high quality.

Do I find it frustrating that they do exploit the popularity of their titles, yes I do, particularly their unwillingness to drop the prices of their games - how can MarioKart 8 still cost as much as it does? But I also appreciate that MarioKart 8 Deluxe is absolutely flipping brilliant and Nintendo know that those millions of new people buying a Switch each year will pick up MarioKart 8 for sure.

I would also question whether Nintendo do 'get away with it' any more, I think they are called out on their practices regularly by media and by gamers, its simply that the consumer doesnt care and will continue to buy their products, I dont think thats the same as 'getting away with it'.

I bought a switch a couple of years back. I think I have only bought one game for it since, because the prices are frankly ridiculous. My daughter plays on it now, I stick to the Playstation..

Most people just don't care enough honestly. If they like something they'll buy it, if not they won't. Casuals don't sit down and say why is mario or zelda remastered full $60 when crash was $40.

Nintendo has a huge fan base of casuals, parents, etc. As long as they have that they'll have guaranteed sales no matter what they do.

Wiiu didn't capture this same market hence it bombed completely. Nostalgia also gives them that power. Sony and microsoft haven't been around long enough for that and they lack iconic ip's to capture the same market. They are geared towards more serious gamers and serious gamers won't be fooled, they will research and compare.

I have two friends who are fanatical about Nintendo. They freely admit they are suckers and will pay whatever Nintendo charge for their constantly rehashed games and their slew of shelf filling collectibles. You won't change the mind of the indoctrinated.

I went the other way. As I grew up and matured (at least in my tastes, poo is still funny), I got increasingly annoyed with Nintendo as they just weren't making anything I cared about. I haven't been a Nintendo fan since the Gamecube.

Blind fanboyism

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
