Stupid question. You get a huge library of great exclusives and better performing multiplatform games with an affordable price with the 360. Only reason to purchase the ps3 if you're interested in the bluray.

A PS2. Sometimes I wish I had held off on "next" gen. I missed out on so many last gen classics. Still need to get through Ico, God of War, Shadow of Colossus, among others. If you haven't played the classics, wait a bit before you get the reboots and new ones.

With that said, I think it is important to have a PS3 AND 360 handy. You get the best multi-console games and exclusives! Also, do yourself a favor and don't get a Wii. Its very good at collecting dust; not much else.

I'm going to have a dozen games or so on back order after the holidays. :-p

It's a pretty balanced article, I got the PS3 because it was future proof and thus a money saver in the long term, and now the games are starting to shine as well.
I liked the wii at first but now I tend to think Nintendo is going to ride out this gen on being a popular gimmick. Most people I know have a Wii and barely use it, it's just become a must have fashion item now.

well i bought a 360 at launch and stayed away from ps3.but theres to many games on ps3 and coming out 2009 onwards so i bought the 160gb bundle with uncharted,since then mgs4,resistance2,motorstorm2,c all of duty 5.i,ve always said 360 was better on line but if i,m honest there,s things ps3 and its psn service can do now which live can,t example 60 players and 32 players on line i,m having a blast with resistance 2 its more fun than gears as epic screwed up big time on that.theres some great games on the psn store as well and these are big name ips not just shovel ware arcade stuff store fillers.i,m still keeping my 360 but the ps3 service,harware as surprised me way more than i thought it would.bluray will be the way to go the films look awesome compared to dvd and with games like killzone,final fantasy etc coming out you can see why this format was needed.

its simple...if you want a quality hardware with excellent technology and games then you go for ps3, if you want a system that crashes all the time, a bleak future but also has great games than go for 360, if you want a console with no good games, gimmick, and if you are a kid go for wii. This is my list.

Buy a Wii if you are a social person who likes to entertain at parties.

Buy a 360 if you are a gamer on a budget.

Buy a PS3 if you are a gamer that likes the bells and whistles and wants more than a games console but a home entertain machine.

id go for the PS3 simply because it is superior in hardware,software, and games but hey maybe all your friends play the 360 online in that case..

That's a subjective question which isn't clear-cut.

You have to consider price, long-term value, features, games (more importantly exclusive games), hardware reliability, customer care, also which console your friends have (social aspect).

I'm not trying to get at anything, but I am trying to say thats it's an individual's choice which console s/he chooses.

1. If your mostly into Media and is an Audio(uncompressed)-HD Video Aficiato and gaming comes Secondary then Buy a PS3. Though it's network is FREE and that a real Plus but is not as socially connected as the competition. Gaming Library is getting there.

There are a ton of PS3 fanbois on here posting and agreeing with each other. It makes me think 360 is the system to get. The 360 kids are busy playing games while the PS3 crowd has a ton of time to sit on N4G and circlejerk over how their system will one day have these awesome games released.

I disagree that the Wii is just a kid or party machine. I have no kids and I dont party hardly ever and I still have a lot of fun sitting down and playing many of the games on the wii. The Wii is really just misunderstood for the most part, even developers don't get it. They think all there is to games is good graphics and a lot of guns. While this may be true to a some, alot of people like adventure, puzzle, sports, and strategy games, and the wii does well in this regard.

IMO you're better off with the PS3 and disagree about library of games, once upon of time that was true but now I think as far as quality and diversity goes then the PS3 has the edge.

Having said that I can see a lot of people buying a 360 arcade system, but are they in for a shock when they want DLC space, user made content, have to pay online subscriptions, media center, wireless, true HD products.

Because, unless they spend more than the PS3 they aren't going to get it.

The tables have turned in the multi plat games too, early on the PS3 ones suffered but in general now games are looking better on the PS3 (exclusives better yet again because they're not tied to other consoles limitations). Recent examples are FC2 (shadows are seriously bad on 360), Tomb Raider (worse shadowing/no dynamic lighting), Mercs 2 (tons lower res textures on 360) and so on. To be fair Fallout 3 on the PS3 had worse texturing and some issues, but in general developers who understand the PS3 are producing better product.

First post of mine that sounds severly fanboy, not trying to though as this is just my honest opinion.

It is good to give people the option and provide models ranging from basic to advanced but of course MS's idea behind it is to get your kid a $299 basic console for Christmas or birthday and then have the kid whine for days till you finally give in and buy the Wifi and XBL so he/she can play with friends....

I think he should have made it very clear in "The Final Verdict" that an Xbox360 can become a serious headache for parents who think they were done with $299 for an arcade version.

If there's one thing that Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts doesn't deserve to be called, surely it's 'half hearted'. Rare took the difficult option of creating a gamesworld that relies on specific vehicle capabilities to be navigated. Those who are half hearted surely wouldn't have taken on reinventing the Banjo Kazooie formula.

I would suggest to someone who is thinking of buying a console for themselves i would ask them the following questions:
What games do you like to play?
What sort of budget are you on?
Do you like to play online?
Do you like to have friends over and play?
Do you like site down games or standing up/active games?
Are you interested in blu-ray?
Having someone answer those questions should give you a pretty good idea which console is for them.

For great game selection: 360
For an all around bad-ass time: PS3
For the Kiddies/Fam/Wanna move crowd: Wii

Get all of them, that way you can still favor one yet not be called a fanboy.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
