Wow! Capcom is really working hard optimizing their games on Switch 2! Now give us RE Generation pack Vol.2 on Switch 2 and take my money!

Imagine if they used the same optimizations on Series S! I bet it would look amazing...

Yes I feel the series s gets a bad rep, its a nice little console and is small and easy to travel with, prior to getting my Switch 2, my series s was what I took with me when traveling for work purposes. I feel Capcom are to be commended for doing an excellent job on all versions of the game.

There’s no need to imagine, the Series S is a solid version this is just a clickbait headline.

First the Switch is using last-gen settings (PS4), the Series S is using current-gen with some cutbacks so it’s like PS5- / PS4+.

The Series S is Dynamic 1440p usually running just above 1080p, the Switch is Dynamic 1080p usually running around 720p (docked).

The BIG ONE: The Series S has 2 modes framerate and ray tracing, this video is comparing the ray tracing mode which is why the performance is in the 30 - 50fps range on the Series S. The Performance mode on Series S is mainly 60fps. So the comparison is disingenuous in the framerate comparison section. The article even says it.

The key thing holding the Switch 2 version up is DLSS. Simply put DLSS is significantly better at image reconstruction than TAA, checkerboard rending, and FSR 1/2/3. So the Switch 2 has an upscaler that better than PS4, XBO, Series S, PS5, and series X. Only PS5 Pro PSSR is comparable.

Who paid silly money for the Switch 2 key card version?

gigoran877d ago

Nintendo Life Review: Resident Evil Village Gold Edition (Switch 2) - A Solid First-Person Follow Up

With Resident Evil Village, Capcom wisely leaned into the success of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, presenting a direct sequel that continues the story of protagonist Ethan Winters. This time, he winds up in a rural village overlooked by a vast, elegant castle as he strives to locate his kidnapped daughter, Rose. It’s no secret that Village borrows heavily from what is widely regarded as the series’ critical darling, Resident Evil 4, but the results are somewhat mixed.

For starters, Village ramps up the action with more open spaces, a wide array of enemy types, upgradable weapons, and counterattack mechanics. The enemies are significantly more interesting than The Mold featured in RE7, with Lycans, reanimated dolls, mechanically enhanced ‘Soldat’ humans, and more all vying to bring your journey to a gory conclusion.

The environments are generally much more varied, too, and are the true stars of the show. You’ve got the aforementioned village and castle, plus the spooky House Beneviento, Moreau’s Reservoir, and Heisenberg’s Factory (no, not that Heisenberg...or that one). Each major location feels wholly unique with its own dedicated boss character, and so it makes for a supremely well-paced experience that rarely outstays its welcome.

“ Performance takes a hit in handheld mode”
For a supposed souped up Switch, this is embarrassing 🥴 I mean it’s a game from 2017 ffs 🙄

When my Generation pack arrives on Switch 2 tomorrow, I'll play RE9 first before RE8 and RE7. I already platinumed RE7 on PS5, but I am excited to replay the game on Switch 2.
