I'd have given it to the DS personally.

I'm a big 3DS fan (even if I never use the 3D...). I absolutely love my Switch, but being a 'convertible' it's not as good at specifically being a handheld/console as specialised devices are.

Its a toss up. The fact that the Switch can play the same games as current gen consoles (mostly) makes it very good. But 3DS had a huge variety of its own.

I think this is why lists like this should only include systems that have come and gone. This is not the first ever list of this type I've come across. This gives me flashbacks to the mid-late 2000s, when there were lists that had the Xbox 360 as the best console of all time.

It's not that it's bad to be fond of whatever system is currently out, but the thing is, whatever is current will almost always be more on the mind of whoever is making these lists. It's a lot easier to take a step back and examine the life cycle of a system when it has passed, along with its lasting legacy. I for one am always going to be spending the most time with my systems that are current.

That said, the Switch definitely needs to be in the top 5. It will just sound more credible as the "best ever" once it's examined in hindsight. I too have to give it to the DS though...not that Nintendo is laughing any less on their way to the bank.

The DS range was possibly best

I don't care for the switch, but I agree. It is the best hand-held gaming device since it's able to be used as a home console also.

No surprise that Nintendo occupies the top 5 positions (and 6 out of the top 10 overall).

For me, the Gameboy Advance SP (the later AGS101 model with the backlit screen). Massive library of amazing games and backwards compatible with the the OG Gameboy and Gameboy Colour catalogue. Still use mine daily.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted
