I completely understand that their focus and messaging around this game at the time they did it was a complete trainwreck that showed how out of touch they were. That said, I think this game for mobile could be decent - it doesn't impact Diablo 4 being made, so I'm not sure why so many people appear to be against it as it exists now (I guess meme culture & a general dismissal of mobile gaming). It seems like Blizzard is playing a larger part in development now, whereas before it sounded like it was going to be a lazy NetEase clone with Diablo skins. Might still be that, but I'm mildly hopeful with what I've seen/read to this point.

I think what will be most interesting is to see how this game ends up playing on mobile & how the structure of the game ends up being changed. Doubly so given Path of Exile is coming to mobile at some point, & that will simply be the full game crammed on mobile so we kind of get to see both approaches here. I'm hopeful that Diablo Immortal might be good enough for bite-sized bouts of Diablo, but am fully prepared for it to be a game hampered by its platform. But I'm not going to hate on it before I've read more impressions and tried it for myself.

I'll even be curious to see what my preference ends up being - a full fat experience that fully replicates what you can do on PC (with inherent mobile control/input weaknesses), or one that is designed with mobile in mind. I'm thinking I'd prefer to play full-blown games on proper platform with proper input devices & have a mobile designed game for mobile constraints, but I am also always impressed when they can compress a big game to run & control comfortably on mobile.

Everyone is already mad at a game they haven’t played. Allll you of whiny babies literally haven’t touched the game, and therefore have not a shred of clue if it’s good, or a terrible idea. It could be good, but guess what again? You don’t know yet! And the other problem is 80% of you whiny babies are going to play it anyways!

They killed Diablo for me. I am sure someone will make a better game like it without all of the passes and Bs that Blizzard has put into Diablo.

Good. Perhaps it will only take a decade from the launch of Diablo 4 for us to get Diablo 5.
