Compatible PS5 Monitors That Can Support 120fps

Here's a list of compatible PS5 monitors that support 120 frames-per-second at 1080p and at 4K resolution.

excaliburps1993d ago

Can the human eye even notice 120fps though? O_o

sagapo1993d ago

I believe the human eye can’t notice it, but you can “feel” the game run smoother.

Bathyj1993d ago

I played call of duty and I couldnt tell the difference between 60. Maybe I need to give it another go.

Rimeskeem1993d ago

You can see the smoothness difference, while the eye cant detect the individual frames once it becomes a motion it isn't about individual frames, it's about the smoothness of the motion.

Espangerish1993d ago (Edited 1993d ago )

I game at 120fps regularly on pc and the difference going from 60 to about 90 is very clear.

When comparing 90 to higher such 120 or 144 etc. it’s much harder to tell.

The key factor is how close you are to the screen and how fast the camera pans. On a slower panning controller system at a distance difference 60 to 120 is small, but close up with a mouse and fast camera motion it’s a big difference

blacktiger1993d ago

they can if the game is designed to be 120, otherwise 60 is the standard

mechethegoat1993d ago

it can. its a combination of seeing and feeling all that butter

FanboysKiller1987d ago (Edited 1987d ago )

Yes , but the real technical answer is complicated , and there is no such thing as super eyes that can detect what other commoners can't , I know there are many youtubers who prove it wrong like linus tech tips channel but I don't believe him cause he's not a scientist.

shame you can't use a 1440p monitor though.. :/

GameBoyColor1993d ago

I bought a lg 27gl83a, it accepts 4k signals and downscales to 1440p. Best thing to do since Sony is trying to blue ball people for no reason.

Neonridr1993d ago

that's a good point, I wonder if my ASUS one does the same. Regardless I'm playing at 4k.

NextGenCeo1993d ago

Some people was insisted HDMI 1.4 doesn't support 120hz. But it was wrong. I have AOC24G1 144HZ Freesync Premium monitor and i can always get 144hz on display port and 120hz any HDMI 1.4 port on monitor.

sagapo1993d ago (Edited 1993d ago )

Yes, true, but no 120Hz @ 4k tho. You need HDMI 2.1 for that. I have 2.0 and does 120Hz up to 1440p. I believe 1.4 is 120Hz at 1080p, not 100% sure about that tbh.

mechethegoat1993d ago

yup of course not at 4k. no reason to have 4k on a 1080p or 1440p monitor

sagapo1992d ago

@mechethegoat: can’t say I totally agree: my PS4 pro is hooked on a 1440p monitor and is set to 4k signal. The monitor downscales to 1440p and it looks pretty good. Way better than setting the PS4 to 1080p and letting the monitor upscale (not sure if it even upscales because it looks jaggy). But this is only because PS4 doesn’t support 1440p, if it did, I completely agree with your comment tho.

Spiders Studio, Developers of GreedFall: The Dying World, Announce Liquidation of the Company

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.

What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
