Core Xbox writes: "For the past few years, Microsoft has been trying to move more of the Xbox experience over to PC. Here's where it's still falling short."

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
Doesn't really matter. Steam is the king gaming platform, ecosystem, and community on PC. Microsoft knows this. This is why every single first part Microsoft game in the future will be available via Steam.
I don't use it because I want the Xbox experience, I use it because I want to play the game. I couldn't care less about achievements even when I have used an Xbox and it's much easier to navigate the app with a mouse than using a controller. Not to mention the Xbox console is a total waste of money if you already have a decent gaming PC and not only can I play the Xbox games I can play a huge library of PC games not found on the Xbox.
I expect "Xbox" as a brand to be around hardware wise 2 more gens at most, even less as individual software separate from Steam, Steam will always trump the Microsoft store and it's inevitable all Xbox games will be on Steam eventually.
They've basically built the foundations of becoming a 3rd party publisher as opposed to a main pillar platform since the disastrous launch of the Xbox One. The only thing separating them from the likes of Sega at this point is still making a go at hardware and keeping PlayStation as the only platform they've yet to publish on, which is only a matter of time imo.
This is nitpicking. It would be nice to have achievements supported for every game, but this is more to do with devs than Microsoft. They could easily implement them if they wanted to. The other things mentioned are so minor that I don't really see them as issues at all.
My only issue with Game Pass, and it's more to do with the way Windows handles Microsoft store purchases than anything else, is that the games are locked off from the user. So using mods in a lot of games is made very difficult or impossible, even using things like Reshade is impossible to do on a lot of Microsoft store games. I can't even change things through Nvidia control panel for most games, and that is just ridiculous. Some games you can gain control of the files by editing persmissions, but there are a lot of games now where this just doesn't work anymore. I can't gain any control no matter what I do.
When it comes to playing games on PC, Microsoft Store games are by far the most restrictive for the user.
I only purchase Microsofts games on the Xbox App for PC, and it's pretty good overall. Other than that, I buy EA games on Origin and everything else on Steam.
