Microsoft needs to make good games and that starts with one. They need to make one good game then go from there.

This is what really sets ps5 apart from xbox. Personally playing xbox series x must be just like playing xbox one with slightly better visuals. Dualsense is a whole new experience in its self.

As the generation goes on the xbox controller will need a reform. The rumble triggers they should keep but add in haptic feedback. As more and more games will have this as part of the experience.

Sony has hit a home run in fact they have out Nintendo'd Nintendo with their controller

Only a matter of time until they realise the draw this thing has and give in with some pale imitation.

Series X isn't a major advancement over Xbox One, certainly not when you factor in One X. The controller is more or less the same and it has a pretty much identical interface. Sure it's more powerful but that's about it. There's no revolution here.

This Gen Xbox integrated the PS4 share button. MS did nothing to innovate in the controller department and the success of the Dualsense got them off guard.

I am pretty sure they are already working in something to copy the Dualsense. They will not allow PS5 to have such an advantage on their side.

Innovation, taking risks is what's kept PlayStation ahead of Xbox. Sometimes it pays off, as we're seeing with the DualSense and sometime it doesn't, the Vita (although I'd say it was ahead of it's time). Xbox would rather play it safe.

They at least need a speaker.

I predict that they will eventually copy it, but it won't be as good, will have missed the hype train by a couple of years and will ultimately be a waste of money for them.

Wrong xbox controller is great and MS doesnt need to copy what sony is doing. I love the dualsense its a great upgrade over the ds4 and hopefully its features will continue to be used by all developers. Xbox controller was and still is the best imo with its general feel and comfort, thats exactly why MS didnt change it but made things about it better. Just my opinion.

This is just one of the ways that the new xbox's have been too Conservative. From a hardware perspective they have all the main bases covered but nothing else.

They still have a software problem, no upgrades to ui or controller. They iterated this gen where they should have been more bold like playstation.

I was just sat waiting for a lift to get to me on Demon's Souls. I could feel the chain links moving in my hands. There are hundreds of little touches like this which add up to an incredibly immersive experience. Devs will be falling over themselves to differentiate their product with their implementation now they're all seeing how powerful the tech can be. It's too late for MS this gen though I'm afraid

Got the series x. Controller is a let down. they were lazy with the new version. almost nothing changed. just smaller and different texture. i hope that enough people complain so they go back and redesign it properly.

I'm not bothered about a gimmick that wont be talked about soon. No console needs it so long as the controllers work that's all you need. xbox should have refined the elite controller and included that with every series X. with that said the dual sense is not mind shattering. the adaptive triggers are annoying and i turned them off. the touch pad is useless. i do like the feel of the controller and the speaker

The feel of the feedback when you shoot guns on ps5 is amazing especially with borderlands 3. It definitely gives like a sense of being part of the actual game. Refreshing.

This is the problem: MS needs a controller, MS needs a fridge...MS needs anything but new IPs.

One thing I didn't like about the Xbox Series X was the launch controller I think they played it way too safe. I do like the re-done directional pad... But outside of that all they really did was add a share button I will never press on purpose. I would have liked to see a few more innovations. I don't like the overall placement of the analog sticks of the dual sense controller but I do like the innovations it brings to the gaming space.

As usual comments seem to be one side or the other - you know what I mean.Personally, I'm split on this. Dual sense is an innovative design and it undoubtly does make an effort to move gaming control forward. I really don't see how people could argue that much. Of course, we have to see how well it's adopted by devs. I mean after all, I thought the touch pad and inbuild speaker of DS4 was a great idea and that didn't go as well as I'd hoped.

For me, the xbox controller is still the ultimate in ergonomics. It just 'feels' better to hold. And I much prefer the asymmetric sticks, for bigger hands it just seems an easier fit. But that's just subjective. A combination of the new Dual sense features and xbox elite ergonomics and adjustments might be the ultimate imho.

Disclaimer: I haven't got my PS5 yet, so haven't been able to try it myself, but I have noticed the Dual sense does seem bulkier and more like the xbox controller in terms of size and shape. Maybe it will be the ultimate.

Microsoft still hasn't addressed the psvr yet either. The thing is Xbox doesn't care about anything but their subscription services and that's it. It works for them though because they also have windows.

If third parties continue developing for the Dual Sense, i have to agree with the sentiment here. The Dual Sense is an incredible experience that just adds that much more to your gaming experience, certainly Microsoft will have to have an answer to this if development continues the way it has been. I have always thought that the Dual Sense features would just be a novelty at the start and then fade away over time with third-party support. It will be interesting to see what happens here. I am a huge fan of what the Dual Sense is doing, as it seems to just give you that extra layer to games that they have been needing for some time. Here's to hoping that these features continue to be taken advantage of!

The Xbox controller has had complex multi-rumble in it for some time -- but no game dev ever uses it. Kinda seems like it's the PS controller that's playing catchup. Sony just exposed their rumble APIs better? Not sure.

I guess the trigger rumble is an additional feature? I can see that as being fun. The left/right motors have existed for eons in the Xbox controller, though.

As someone who has bought ever XBOX console up to the XBOX1X, I can confidently say that MS, Spencer and his team will never get certain obviously things about console gamers and console gaming. MS did not need a new controller, all they had to do was pack the XBOX Elite controller with the Series X. But no.....include a new controller that's not really that new at all and no where as good as the elite controller. Genius.

They went cheap with nickel and diming folks with none bigger than having controllers that STILL uses batteries. Batteries! What kind of mickey mouse operation are they running over there. Folks still have to buy the battery pack for rechargeable controller? Those kind of idiotic moves reeks of Aaron Greenberg.

Yes, running a profitable business is not easy but the decision making of Spencer and team XBOX has clearly proven to me over the years, that they cater to certain type of gamer and unfortunately for them, its not the majority of console gamers. Not mad at them since they are beloved by a number of gamers. Lets stop comparing them to Sony since they may appear to be in the same league but truth be told, they are not.

The problem with the Xbox controllers is the myth that they are the “best” ergonomically. The little lie to make people feel better about the controller is stifling the controllers development.

I’ve never used an Xbox controller then went to another controller and felt like they were unusable. And the people who perpetuate that need to let it go.

The fact that they release a 150 dollar controller proves the Xbox controller could fully use an overhaul. But MS is cheating it out plain and simple

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
