It's significantly improved I've played it during free weekends on both consoles and PC. It's finally starting to feel like a real fallout however at time you will be forced to play those horrible 76 quest strings you know go to this terminal find holotype 678 and then go to the next terminal find holotype 679 repeat.

It still has performance issues galore on consoles but it's becoming what it should have been from the jump.

However imo the story is no where near the quality of previous entries it's simply there I'd still recommend a replay of an older game over this

RPGs are supposed to evolve based on your decisions. I don't care if they dumped some awful NPC dialogue into it and trust me, it is awful. None of these dialogue trees go anywhere because they can't have an effect on the surrounding world.

Hell, even dropping nukes in this game is just in there to help improve loot drops. If you can't change anything by nuking it then what's the point? This game is trash, don't be fooled.

Is it free or close to it?

No, it's not worth your time. Maybe if it were made in 2014 but even that is a stretch.

With no single-player Fallout games in, many dedicated fans of the series have been left wondering if Bethesda has done enough to make Fallout 76 worth a second look.

Damn, tough crowd lol. I honestly had no idea how much bad feeling there was towards this game.

It's enjoyable for awhile at least, but I got tired of the hunger and thirst meter constantly being low. They drain too quickly, and you can't carry too much food around or it spoils. Constantly having to find food and drinks is annoying.

Too little too late.

Interestingly enough I just installed this yesterday. I've been missing a good building game in my life on the line of Conan Exiles. And this one has a story, so I figured I'd give it a shot.
