Happy N7 Day

Bioware:

It’s tough keeping a big secret (and we really struggled to keep this one a surprise) but now it’s official: today we announced the Mass Effect Legendary Edition! We’ve heard (for years!) your requests for a Mass Effect remaster, so we’re super happy to finally reveal that we’ve been working on a remastered edition of the Mass Effect trilogy.

If it's only single player then that terrible system of the multiplayer influencing the ending for the third game won't happen.

"a veteran team has been hard at work envisioning the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe. We are in early stages on the project and can’t say any more just yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing our vision for where we’ll be going next"

I'm surprised they have a veteran team left to be honest, I mean I want to be excited but after Andromeda and Anthem I just can't. They need to bring Shepard back and go off that ending in ME3 where you see them gasp for air.

It would be amazing if they further tweaked the ending for ME3 and came up with something better, to this day that indoctrination theory still blows my mind, it would have fixed everything.

MrGunny942020d ago

I'm only worried about Mass Effect 1.

ClayRules20122020d ago

Why’s you worried about Mass Effect 1?

@sourOG
I personally thought 2 was the best overall! 1 was my least favorite.

lonewolf102020d ago

I want to play them all again (original trilogy), they were all good (barring 3's ending) I'm just hoping they add proper controller support to the PC version.

-Foxtrot2020d ago

Hopefully it works out, Mass Effect 1 will always be my favorite

It felt like a Sci-Fi RPG

It focused more on everything else then over the top shooting, something ME2 then focused on through thermal clips

Having guns which overheat in a Galaxy made sense and when they required a cool down it allowed you to rely on your team mates and biotics. It made you carefully select your team and class while going into battles with a strategic mindset. Thermal clips killed it in my opinion.

LordoftheCritics2020d ago

Yessssss I love everything Mass Effect.

Lionsguard2020d ago

I just hope they fix the floatiness that occurs in ME1.

Godmars2902019d ago

@ClayRules2012:
Because its a flawed trilogy? That a ME1 remaster will be influenced by what was done to later, compromised, entries.

Kaze882019d ago

I really like ME1 story and decisions, but anyone who says that the gameplay of ME1 is not outdated have not played it lately or their memories are clouding their judgement.

- The cover system was a joke
- Shooting was very average
- You could not combo skills (like you could in ME2-3)
- Shooting sections specially on planets were barren and boring
- 1 Shot sections where you died and had to play last 45min again
- 1-2 minute loading times between sections of the game
- Going through clunky inventory of 100 items and getting rid of them one by one

Don't get me wrong, at time it was a good game, but it haven't aged well. It does need quality of life improvements. Still I hope they wont streamline it to same state as ME2 or specially ME3. Keep it more like RPG.

notachance2019d ago

if the elevator rides isn't 5 minutes long then it isn't ME1

ExBee2019d ago

@sourOG Mass Effect 2 was easily my favourite, I could never get into 3 for some reason, as much as I tried which is strange

EmperorDalek2020d ago

It doesn't sound like they're going to change the ending, Casey Hudson emphasised that it's not going to be a reimagining. Slightly disappointing, but you probably couldn't expect much more.

Fingers crossed that the next game is a direct sequel to Mass Effect 3.

-Foxtrot2020d ago

That's a shame

With how bad Andromeda was, I thought they'd use how much time as passed and the remaster to fix things or at least add certain new content in which would give them a doorway of continuing from the original trilogy.

Reefskye2019d ago (Edited 2019d ago )

@Foxtrot ME:A was flawed but it had fixed issues with DA:I, This is what gets me the most, DA:I is a badly badly designed game, poor characters, poor level progression poor and clunky combat, the only saving grace was it's decent voice actors, it was a chore to play and felt like every MMO that came before only there is no end game when you get max level it.

DA:I and ME:A are as bad as each other yet here we are.. sat with one being game of the year and the other being laughed at cos of over the top internet negativity because of bad animations. neither game deserves game of the year, both are poor games forced to use an engine that needed a shit ton of learning and retooling because ME:A and DA:I where nothing like battlefield.

Anthem was also poor but if your compare all 3 games you realise with each game, their use of frostbite has improved. All 3 are still bad games, yet Anthem was the only one that was actually fun to play, it just a shame it was marred with so many bad ideas.

If anything it's EA's fault, all its games since Battlefield 3 have been forced to use frostbite.

TricksterArrow2020d ago

After the patch, I actually like ME3's ending. Nothing mindblowing, but it's decent. I just don't like the green beam ending. (can't remember the actual name lmao)

nickanasty2062019d ago

Who knows, just think if they do alter the ending of the third in a big way and give us the ending we wanted, maybe the announcement of the new installment will continue with Shepard!!!!! God damn, that would be incredible.

-Foxtrot2019d ago

Hopefully

I don't know why they'd have that scene of Shepard breathing or gasping for air only to then announce a brand new game like Andromeda which featured new characters.

Clearly they survived but they never showed us how or what happened after

amazinglover2019d ago

Multiplayer didn't influence the ending it let you add points to your effective military strength outside of single player but was never needed to get any of the endings.

You could get the same endings as everyone else without playing a single game of multiplayer.

-Foxtrot2019d ago

Yeah but you had to work at it a lot, like if you didn't play the multiplayer and stepped out of line once, just ONE small step in the main game, then you'd get a bad ending.

You shouldn't have to feel forced into playing a crappy multiplayer to secure a better ending.

There were reports during the time of people who did almost everything right and still didn't get it.

--Onilink--2019d ago

I never really needed to do anything in MP to get all the points I needed for the ending in ME3, it was just another option(and it was a pretty decent horde mode at the time tbh) , dont see what the problem is

The_Sage2019d ago (Edited 2019d ago )

Foxtrot,

What I have been hoping for years is that they would do a direct sequel to Mass Effect 3 that would start with (SPOILERS AHEAD) Shepard waking up in the middle of the fight on earth with the crew that is left saying that he/she was indoctrinated when he/she ran into the white beam of light coming from the reaper. This would negate Mass Effect 3s ending and the game would begin with the united races of the universe in the continuationan of the all out fight on earth to defeat the Reapers.

A guy can dream, right?..

-Foxtrot2019d ago

See and the thing is with that is you could have that entire game fighting the Reapers in their last stand while setting up a new Threat for ME5 & 6. Push them off Earth in the beginning and visit other worlds to finish them off.

What about if in the end they retreat and your mission is to go after them to a new Galaxy in order to finish them off.

They apparently came from Dark Space but we're supposed to believe in Andromeda the crew went through Dark Space for 634 years and NEVER ran into them? Seems like there's ways they can go about this and say they actually do have their own home. Lot of backstory they can add to this.

The_Sage2018d ago

I like the way you think. Maybe you and I should write Mass Effect 4. That way there would be at least 2 people that would really love it. Lol.

Shikoku2020d ago

Jesus they're getting as bad as bethesda with skyrim

MrGunny942020d ago

Let's hope it doesn't end up anything like Andromeda..

RazzerRedux2019d ago

Andromeda was underrated after all the bugs were addressed, imo. I enjoyed it.

nickanasty2062019d ago (Edited 2019d ago )

Sometimes you just need to bring people back to their roots in order to get excited again about a franchise. THPS 1+ 2 Remake did this in the best way possible, and now that people are excited enough about it again, can hopefully continue making THPS games that actually matter. Andromeda was bad just like Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 was bad, lets hope they can turn this around and kill it! Skyrim has never been that exciting to me tbh, the jankiness never had me that excited even when it first released. Mass Effect on the other hand, the original trillogy, was a masterpiece. Sure we didn't get the ending that we wanted, similarly to Game of Thrones, but 90 percent of the time i spent with that franchise was satisfying and i can't dock them for the amazing work they did on that series.

Shikoku2019d ago (Edited 2019d ago )

How many times do you need to do that? 4,5,6 times? No they are playing consumers and the new hardware is about to land and they want more easy cash for barely any work and people are dumb enough they will buy these games again for a third or 4th time. I loved the original series I love the first one the most 2 was ok but by the third it wasn't what Bioware started out making it by 3 EA had is greed little hands in it and I'm my opinion destroyed what it could have been. Andromeda was a complete joke so was Anthem and I don't see Bioware being able to turn Anthem around or make a good Mass Effect sequel. I wanted a better ending to the originals what we got was dribble with minimal effort.

I won't be buying any Bioware IPs until they launch and I get to see if they are good.

Gatsu2019d ago (Edited 2019d ago )

Not really. This is what fans have asked them to do for years and it will be a greatly improved version if you read the post. With Skyrim no one wanted them to keep releasing it so many times.

nickanasty2062019d ago

That is precisely what i am saying though.

Shadowsteal2019d ago

Are you kidding me? Mass Effect 3 is a beloved franchise trapped in last-last gen. People were clamoring for this, yes you have access to it via Xbox BC but now it will have massive improvements and texture enhancements for all platforms.

Skyrim was a different situation. Released in 2011, we asked for ES6 they put Special Edition out. We ask for ES6 again they come out with Skyrim VR, we ask for ES6 again they put Skyrim on Switch.

Clearly you're blind if you put these situations in the same boat.

Unknown_Gamer57942019d ago

I usually take any opportunity to dump on EA because they usually deserve it, but how? Skyrim has been ported to almost everything that can run it. People have been wanting a port of ME for years. If anything, EA is guilty of doing the opposite of what fans wanted until now, and just kept such a great trilogy in the past. I'm actually glad they're finally doing this.

Profchaos2019d ago (Edited 2019d ago )

With all the games EA made this generation feeling samey and uninspired or online flops (me Andromeda, Mirror's edge catalyst, anthem, NFS 45 to NFS 79, insert sport title with new "my career mode which always feels like a riff on the first iteration") I think most people prefer re imaging or re makes of games from when ea was actually creative and made fun sp games

Edgelordsupreme2019d ago

Uhhhh, corrent me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure this is the first time Mass Effect has been re released sans the PS3 trilogy.

Rainbowcookie2020d ago

Ive never played it whoop whoop😊

MrGunny942020d ago

First time being a remastered that's awesome! And with all the DLC

toxic-inferno2020d ago

A lot of the Mass Effect DLC is fantastic. Some parts are actually the most memorable parts of the entire series.

Its great to know that this will be the full Mass Effect experience.

TheColbertinator2019d ago (Edited 2019d ago )

I'd give anything to experience the last 5 hours of Mass Effect new once more.

robtion2019d ago

Great trilogy. The second game in particular which consists of building your A-team/crew is amazing. One of the best games of that gen.

FlameWater2020d ago

People who say Day 1 is why we get catastrophe games like Andromeda

MatrixxGT2019d ago

And Andromeda in its current form is still better than most 3rd party crap being released today.

MrGunny942020d ago

Let's wait to see what actual improvements happened tbh

Father__Merrin2020d ago

Might re install ME3 I'm about half way in on origin, silly thing is there's no controller support on pc you have to use a mod

MrGunny942020d ago

I always wanted to try out the Synth ending.... :)

lonewolf102019d ago

And as welcome as that mod was it was clunky as hell (unless anything has improved with it in the last couple of years?).

Father__Merrin2019d ago

The one I used to use was excellent it gave it console controls like xbox 360. You install it with nexus mod manager and even on the title screen it says mass effect 3 controller edition its quite neat tbh

lonewolf102019d ago

Ta I'll give the mod manager/mods a go.
