Looking at how MS rolls, Jasper is the RRoD fix. Like XP/2000 was to ME. And how Windows 7 will be to Vista. Don't think the Jasper will have a high failure rate like the O.G. 360 did, so if you've been holding off for a 360, here is your chance. I've been burned by O.G. 360 already, so I think I'll wait a few moments and see how Jasper holds up before trading up.

Glad to see they're in. I guess they were timing Jasper for around the launch of the NXE, so that it could come preinstalled. Still don't have plans to buy a 360, but I'm actually considering it for the future now.

Almost everyone's NES stopped reading cartridges at one point in time, almost everyone's PS1 and PS2 stopped reading discs at one point in time.

RROD is a massive failure on MS' part; how widely spread the problem is, has been magnified 1000x by the ever present internet.

I have 2 Xbox 360s, 1 launch, the other purchased in May neither of which have RROD. I'm either really lucky, or the problems being reported are overblown, take your pick.

Its good to know MS are still supporting, and working on the 360 architecture, and at $199 when the slim model comes out, I'll get yet another 360.

I'm might wait and see if this gets RROD then I can finally buy one, without fearing it might break(which is what held me back from buying one) xD hope these models get a price cut!!!!

Lol I didn't want to login and say anything about this but, these guys defending this jasper thing is hilarious. My point is that they are defending as though they already have the freaking GPU in their current Xbox. They don't, they will have to buy another which is not a good thing. Why buy another 360 when you already freaking have one. Thats like 226 double cheeseburgers, or 4 360 games. I don't know. Only people that should be hyped about this is the people who don't already own a 360. Heck I have a 360 and if anything i'm feeling left out because its not in mine, and pissed that if I want it I would have to buy another bloody system..(which I'm not doing) If I buy anything it will be a wii for my wife, because I already have a 360 and ps3. So yeah if you have a 360 and you are not buying this for a friend or relative, then you are straight up being a fanboy, or you must feel a bit scared that the one 360 you have will rrod. if you have just sent your xbox back for repair(like me) do your think they will put a jasper in the 360 they send back to you from now on.instead of ticking time bombs.

the newer ones are pretty much ok. the most rrod incidents have to do with first gen 360s. especialy now, with the jasper chips this problem will be extremely minimized (there is always a minimum percent of consoles and other electronic devices that fail) if not completely disappear.heat was the reason but now it's over.It was a matter of time that this problem gets fixed by MS (they should have done it much earlier for their own and their console's good).Everyone with an older 360 get a cooling device, it will for sure save your xbox (all my friends have intercoolers and their xboxes work like new for over three years now,this cooling thing really works). Let's sit down now and see how the 360 sales rise...I wish you all good gaming.

So now x360 has (512MB GDDR3 Shared + 10MB EDRAM Framebuffer + 256MB Flash) on the system board? And is that for ALL skus, not just Arcade? And you can still pack on an HDD and a memory unit to the Arcade if you want?

Sounds good to me! Maybe devs can make use of that extra memory later on in x360s life...

Logically, they wouldn't run two lines of system boards to SEPARATE the skus. That's what external optional equipment is all about. No, this is probably going to be across ALL skus.

The amount of hatred people hold over a piece of hardware is unreal. Good news for 360 owners, fanboys try to rain on their parade. Good news for PS3 owners, the same is true here. if ms hadnt been complete c*nts about the whole reliability thing id probably buy another one. the fact they a*rse reamed a whole bunch of their customers means im not buying another one, simply on idealistic grounds. that and apart from gears 2, they got nuthin

i have a falcon fitted elite.....how does this new one differ from mine in chances of failure....i say this as i thought the falcon sorted out most of the problems from the two earlier types...

I'm getting an xbox elite for xmas. It's the Holiday bundle with lego indiana jones and kung fu panda. I really hope the Jasper is in that system. Nothing would make me happier. Plus, it would make up for living with disc read errors for over a year before getting a new system. Oh the horror :)

The funny thing is that PS3 owners are wanting te problem with the 360 to continue, but what is even funnier is that the 360 is killing the PS3 in sales with this problem. Yet the 360 owners are defending something they dont have enough info on yet, but at the same time neither does the PS3 owner who wants to see it fail.

Now we will have to wait a bit and see if the RRoD is solved.

They say this will stop the RRoDing, but from Microsofts track record, its kind of hard to believe..

Well this chips does look nice and it may and it may not solve the RRod I think they should be running more tests on this chip before they release it. Don't want to see another problem occur like the first release of the 360

MS can't make reliable hardware, thats a fact.

All MS give owners is a 68% failure rate, and a 3 year extendended warranty that's up for most of the 20+ million userbase. Meltdown is about too happen.
