Monster Hunter Rise announced for Switch

The Monster Hunter series thrived on 3DS, but hasn’t seen much action on Switch. Aside from an enhanced port of Monster Hunter Generations, Capcom hasn’t done much with the franchise on Nintendo’s latest system. However, that’s about to change. During today’s Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, Capcom announced Monster Hunter Rise for Switch.

seems like a cheap Spin off in many ways (Art, atmosphere , characters , exploration) ...though lets wait for the final version ...imo canon Monster Hunter has moved permantly on PS4/5/Xbox consoles

GameBoyColor2068d ago

World isn't really a mainline game either though. If it happens that MH5 actually gets announced for playstation and xbox then we can say that's where canon games are. But right now those games don't exist on any of the new hardware.

All there are right now is offshoots, Gen and now Rise for nintendo(stories is the only actual spinoff game) and presumably World series for the others and pc.

Monster hunter world did quite well on pc, it even supports nvidias dlss allowing me to play at 4K 60.

World, while grander as a game, paled in comparison to the number of jobs and customization your character had from the 3DS games. So while World has moved the bar in some ways, it still has some catching up to do in others.

What? There have been more Monster Hunter games on Nintendo consoles than haven't at this point. Portable Monster Hunter sales have been very good to Capcom. And as great as MHW was, it was stripped back in complexity and Monster count from the prior games.

@GameBoyColor

I see some salty people are still trying to push that crap idea that "Monster Hunter World isn't a mainline game." The developers have repeatedly said that Monster Hunter World is the next mainline game.

Monster Hunter World IS Monster Hunter 5. Get over it.

BlackDoomAx2067d ago

lol, stop saying the truth, microsoft and nintendo fanboys don't like it.

Ilovetheps52068d ago

I can't wait for this game. I'm so glad to see them go back to the older style of games. I really hope it turns out well.

thesoftware7302068d ago

Looks fantastic.

Nice graphics for the Switch as well.

fsfsxii2068d ago

ewwww. manhunt should completely ditch Nintendo's shit hardware. MHWorld is a stunner, going back to subHD again is gonna be jarring.

Neonridr2068d ago

then don't play it, nobody will care.

Jeriphro2068d ago

With Monster Hunter Rise, it's not about power. It's about audience. The Switch base is massive right, and Japan especially will buy Rise by the millions. It will increase demand for the Switch again, and it will continue to show that power does not automatically mean best. Some times, it is just a great marriage between two companies.

Sirk7x2067d ago (Edited 2067d ago )

You keep that opinion, while I will enjoy the ever-living hell out of Monster Hunter Rise lol. As amazing as World was in production value, 4U and Generations were far more complex games in terms of mechanics and choice, which is what a large part of the MH community enjoys.

Rise was on sale and wilds had performance issues. I think it speaks volumes to what consumers want.

StoneTitan287d ago

Not just performance issues. Game issues in general

I just forced myself to platinum MHW because I was so bored with its gameplay already. Its map is fixed, so you just do the same thing over and over again in each mission. It's not like HD2, where even after a year, we still don't get bored playing because the experience is different in each mission.
