Only time will tell, going by the past CDPR have been one of the best devs/publishers for gamers, but anything can happen with a new MP title and MT's.

It's CDPR...We will get an MT free, meaty single player with confirmed expansions down the road, while the MP component will be a separate thing with MTs.

As for the MTs being aggressive, let's see how it turns out; personally speaking of the SP part is MT free, I couldn't care less what they do with the MP.

That said, we can at least give them the benefit the doubt for now considering their consumer friendly record.

According to the article, the microtransactions will be focused on the MP side of things; of which won't even launch with the game, itself.

As long as they hold to actual expansions to the main game, of which they stated is the case, and keep the MTs to a multiplayer; in the form of cosmetics and not buffs, then let them do what they do.

CDPR, as both a dev and a storefront owner, have done well by gamers for more than a decade now.

Because it's loot crates with CHANCES to unlock cool things and stuff added after launch so reviews aren't affected by it

I think the point is the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 will have NO microstransactions. And to distinguish the difference between Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk multiplayer (2022). Two seperate games seperated by a couple of years (or more if multiplayer is delayed)

Sounds like CDPR is doing the same as Activision, exactly the same. . "Let's wait till after the game releases and the review scores are posted then, then we'll unleash the greed". This is what they're doing and that looks and sounds just like the Call of Duty gameplan. Personally I have no issue with what they do it's their game they IMO have they right to do as they please. Now on the other hand I and only I control when and what I spend my $$$ on.

Hey watch out @TheRealTedCruz perhaps soon enough we'll see you telling us about all the wonderful benefits of micro-transactions... Seems like only the things you like get a pass... because I seem to remember you mentioning this aspect as a negative in Uncharted

If you can find the comment, I'll happily live up to it, though I don't recall making a comment on it.

All the same, you do realize Uncharted had microtransactions that weren't simple cosmetic items, and did actually offer buffs, which was the point of my comment, yes? So if I did make a comment on it, it most likely would have been about that. Which, really, just makes me consistent and not simply "giving a pass to things I like". Especially considering that I actually enjoy Uncharted, and own them on several consoles.

The problem is it’s a slippery slope. Once they see the revenue they make from micro transactions their priorities may shift. They may focus less on single player expansion and more on multiplayer ecosystem. Just look what happened to GTA and RDR.

It won’t be in the single player. The multiplayer is a stand-alone release coming post-launch, in which there will be microtransactions.

Is just a question because I have no idea. Does EA's Fifa has micro-transactions in their single player "experience" or is it only in the multiplayer (like what Activision's Call of Duty does). Are you mentioning the post-launch thing as a way of saying "hey at least we'll have a couple of months without micro-transactions"?

@fluttershy They mean there's a whole separate Cyberpunk game coming out in 2022 or later that will be just be a multiplayer game. THAT is the one that will have some sort of MTs, Cyberpunk 2077 itself will NOT have any MTs of any kind.

Also they will have it as $60, nothing higher.

CoD´s SP mode is a shell tacked on to the MP mode . 2077 will be a complete game with an MP option tacked on down the road. That is the difference.

I've seen time and time again people getting angry with Micro-transactions; but now developers know: all they have to do is releasing "down the road" lets say 2 months down the road? 3? The Multiplayer option for a game with Micro-transactions and they get a pass. Everyone's happy

Cyberpunk is a giant open-world RPG with a generous amount of content. They've also promised to release legitimate expansions to the single player, which isn't often seen.

They also didn't make the multiplayer a main feature, being as to why it isn't even available in the main game.

You're trying to compare them to the likes of Activision, simply because microtransactions exist.
And your only real means of attack is saying "they say it will come later".

Maybe give one of the most pro-consumer devs/publishers a chance before demonizing them. Being they actually deserve it.

I'm not demonizing anyone. I like The Witcher series, and I'll get Cyberpunk... But I don't like hypocrites, if people think that micro-transactions are bad for gaming they shouldn't get a pass just because they are my favorite developers. The same people here criticize Micro-transactions in Fifa, Cod (all of them), Halo -Gears (Sony fans), Uncharted and TLOU (Xbox fans)

It's not hypocrisy to dislike one entity for what they do, and not another, if their actions don't align.

A dev releasing a giant, open world RPG with a large amount of replayability, and then adding on a multiplayer after the fact, using what will likely be unobtrusive microtransactions for it, is different than building a multiplayer game, purposely to capitalize on microtransactions, and the single player being an afterthought.

I'm not a hypocrite for calling microtransactions out in some cases, and not others. It's a you situation where you refuse to see the context, and the difference between the games involved, and how even they're handling things like microtransactions in general.

I get angry when a game is built around elements that purposly nickel and dime people, UBISOFT is one of the worst and if CDR adds xp boosters and other stuff to their SP mode, which is going to be twice the size as CoDs single mode then I would be salty about that too.

And come off that hypocrite sh?%, who are you, Jesus? The savior of all gamers...come the f' on. You know the difference between Activision and CDPR.

There's a difference between building a MP game around the idea of microtransactions, and building a huge RPG, single player title, that already promised real expansions, and are looking to tack on a multiplayer component, with unobtrusive DLC.

But the question I ask is, are microtransactions always bad? Obviously sometimes they're meaningless or they break gameplay by creating a pay to win situation. But fundamentally they're just content...smaller bits of content...so I see nothing that says such content can't be worth the asking price for some people.

Clickbaity a bit. They should of clarified CD Projekt and Cyberpunk online. Cyberpunk 2077 won't have MTX, they said that from the start. The DLC will follow witchers template with free DLC and paid expansions.

Cyberpunk online (or whatever they call it) which comes out much much later as a seperate product will.

CDPR has been a developer who has offered free single player content, actual expansions more than worth their price, and has one of the only storefronts where you genuinely own your games.

They're simply attacking them just because some form of needless DLC will be coming to a MP that they didn't even focus on; coming to a game that the single player, open world content took hundreds of people, and countless hours to create.

But yeah, as far as they are concerned, Cyber Punk is no better than CoD, and everything is just trying to get you to buy extra content.
