I thought this game was going to run 8K@60fps

Artemidorus2095d ago

No that's likely Master Race guys.

2094d ago
CertifiedGamer2094d ago

I mean if the PS4 pro and Xbox One X can run it at 4K on dynamic resolution then it should be possible for Series X and PS5 to do dynamic 8K. I don’t expect native 8K from either console but is dynamic 8K possible?

Artemidorus2093d ago

Disagree all you want it's facts the PC destroys consoles all the time in specs.

Looks like the game will run at 4k/120fps on PS5 and Series X. That's good news and it should put alot of the rumors to rest once and for all.

ActualWhiteMan2095d ago (Edited 2095d ago )

You are smoking some good crack if you believe that. A 10K PC can't achieve that today... a $600 console definitely wont.

Although the console supports it, doesn't mean COD will hit that number. VRR likely well under 100fps

Steppenwolfmother2095d ago

Well COD runs at 60fps now so I will take the developer’s word when they say it’s running at 4K 120fps. For all of CODs flaws I never really hear performance being one of them

BehindTheRows2095d ago (Edited 2095d ago )

@Steppenwolfmother

Without details, it’s hot air and little else. As Actual said, there are machines many times better and more expensive than these consoles that can’t pump out 4K/120fps. The developer can say what ever they want, but it’s a pipe dream without details (checkerboard vs native, for example).

Now after reading the article, it’s clear that they did NOT say the game will run at 120fps. I advise everyone to read it carefully before jumping to conclusions based on the title...

“It is unclear what they mean with a higher frame rate here since Call of Duty series runs at 60 FPS on the current generation consoles. Some of the developers have confirmed 120 FPS for their games including Dirt 5, however, it is unclear if similar support will be offered for the PS5 and Xbox Series X version of the game”.

From the Activision FAQ...

“The next-gen version of the game will feature higher framerate, hardware-based ray-tracing, shorter load times, and more”.

There you have it. No confirmation of 120fps at all and not even a mention of the resolution the game would run in to achieve that IF it did. ‘Higher framerate’ could simply mean a little higher than 60 (perhaps 70), but with ray tracing, you can forget 120fps on those consoles in 4K unless other significant sacrifices are made. If they could really pull all that off, they would be screaming it from mountaintops.

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen2095d ago (Edited 2095d ago )

The Developer said it, not me.

From VENTUREBEAT
https://venturebeat.com/202...

"With next-generation consoles, the game will play at 4K resolution and refresh rates at 120hz. Cold War will use haptic controllers. The solid-state drives (SSDs) with flash memory in the new consoles will have faster load times, and that means that the loading screens will be gone, with seamless transitions between cinematics and gameplay."

Click the link and scroll down to the section that says next gen visuals.

Ooops Edit
It's 120Hz not 120fps although in certain scenarios Hz and fps could be construed as the same thing.

That guy who spreaded the false rumours was exposed a while back. He was a die hard xbox fan and didn't like Halo being delayed and the memes so he made false rumours about inside devs talking about the PS5 trouble. Big mistake he made was actually naming that dev and that dev came out exposing the guys lie. I saw the whole shenanigans on twitter

Donnie812095d ago (Edited 2095d ago )

Hey if u don’t mind show us some links to this guy getting exposed.

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen2095d ago (Edited 2095d ago )

Donnie, the MODS at Resetera removed him because he was saying PS5 was struggling to hit 1080p/60fps with RE8 and several actual developers who are members of the site called him out on his statements, including a former PlayStation engineer. The MODS closed the thread after DuskGolem admitted that he said what he said to "even things up."
Even after being called out he went on Twitter and doubled down on his BS.

DJStotty2095d ago

4k at 120fps, with ray tracing, some people are dreaming a very disappointing dream.

JEECE2094d ago (Edited 2094d ago )

Yeah, even if all these features appear, they never said they would all be applied at the same time. It may end up being different modes like some games had for PS4 Pro and XoneX this gen. So maybe a performance mode at 120 fps with lower resolution and turned down effects, as well as 4k resolution mode with a lower frame rate.

XxINFERNUSxX2094d ago

Exactly, more like 1080p or 1440p @ 120FPS then yes. Maybe just maybe the mighty RTX 3090 can almost reach that @4K but I doubt it. Next gen begins Sept 1st :D

DJStotty2094d ago

I would say options are as follows :

4K - 60fps - no RT
1080p - 120fps - RT
1440p - 120fps - no RT

BehindTheRows2094d ago (Edited 2094d ago )

The developer did not say that, the article added that.

The dev said (just below what you quoted)...

“We want to make sure that the framerate is responsive, and that it feels like there’s nothing on the technical side preventing you from having a good time,” Bunting said. They never specified any of those extra details that the article added in.

Like I said, read the FAQ (seen here: https://support.activision.... where there is no mention of a specific framerate. Those expecting 4K/120fps/ray tracing are in for a rude awakening.

Folks in the PC world already get this, but console fans need to be brought down a notch. I own a gaming rig many times more powerful than either next gen console (TITAN RTX, i9 12 core CPU, 128GB of DDR4 RAM, and two 3500MB read/3300MB write NVMe drives), and I can't run games at 4K/120fps with raytracing on. Hell, even without raytracing, the 4K/120fps combo struggles. It just doesn't happen and won't on PS5 and Xbox Series X for Cold War either.

Of course, DLSS 2.0 will help with this sort of thing, but even then, I don't know a PC game that runs solid 4K/120fps with raytracing on.

When you're charging $10 more for next gen you can keep your game... Activisions greed knows no limits.

Smok912095d ago

Yeah. Capitalism is too hard to understand.

FlavorLav012095d ago

Considering this game will STILL include MTs on top of the $10 price hike, yea that’s just greed.

Bathyj2095d ago

Then stay where you are until you get a pay rise.

If you ever paid $135 for a SNES cartridge you wouldn't be whinging about a 70 dollar game that runs at 4k120fpsRT

2095d ago
Bathyj2095d ago

Maybe I just don't take things for granted because I know how good we have it now. We have games with experiences they could have never have dreamed of back then. Budgets are probably a thousand times larger and games are cheaper than they've ever been. Even consoles are cheaper. But we cry if they go up 10 dollars in 20 years. And you wonder why microtransactions exist.

jukins2095d ago

Lol exactly these kids don't know how good they got it. Cartridge games used to be a whole lot more amd what you got was what you got

MajorLazer2094d ago

DLC and MT's didn't exist back then so the initial purchase was all they got. These days certain games can afford to be free because they make way more than they ever would have just selling the base game through MT's. Not really a fair comparison.

Edgelordsupreme2094d ago

@Cornelis

Inflation look it up. A Genesis cartridge at 69.99 or 79.99 in 1993 is considerably more money than 79.99 today. Strider for the Genesis tore me a new one money wise.

TheColbertinator2094d ago

@cornelis

Bathyj is from Australia. Game prices over there have always been akin to robbery.

InUrFoxHole2094d ago

@Bathj
Raise? I make over 65k a yr. Im not the richest or poorest either. I know greed when I see it though. Now go back to your cubicle till Activision tells you to take a break.

4k120 would be epic!

FlavorLav012095d ago

So it will start at 100GB day one then balloon larger from there. Got it!

Black ops 4, because it was the last cod of duty I was able to dominate with a +2 k/d ratio. Before all the freaking cheating started to happen. It was nice catching people off guard and shooting at them first and getting the kill. Unlike now, where I shoot people first, but they gun me down with less hits, less time, literally feels like they can kill me in a split second. At times, they are able to run away after me shooting them way more than necessary, yet, the second I'm spotted, I'm dead, there's no me running away to cover. They can do cartwheels, summersaults, backflips and gun you down perfectly. They can shoot you across the map with perfect accuracy. They can jump around like morons and gun you down without even having to correct their aim. They have superman split second perfect reactions. That's the best way to describe it, everything they do is spot on perfect. They can spam and spray (no praying) their gun from far away, because they have no recoil or bullet spread. It always feels like I have to aim and also correct my aim when moving around, while these pricks don't have to do the same.

And yes, I know how to play fps games. I dominated many fps games like: Resistance 1&2, kz 2&3, Socom, MAG, Crysis, Gotham City Impostors, blitz brigade etc. all with 2-4 k/d ratio. Kz2 (lag input controls) and resistance (no aim assist in resistance) being the hardest and were the games I reached either close to a 3 k/d ratio or above.

I truly got to enjoy blacks ops 4 and got my money's worth out of it. Afterwords, I would either stop playing cod games after a while, because of the cheating, or would skip buying cod games for a year or two before buying another.

Another great month imo. The COD campaign on this one was great fun. I've never played Alan Wake, so a PS5 version of that is a perfect way to prepare for the next one...

taurul1059d ago

You're in for a treat with Alan Wake. It still holds after so many years.
For me it's the best psychological thriller I've ever played that is not Silent Hill.
Alan Wake 2 is my most wished sequel of all time, waiting for it since 2010...

bloop1059d ago (Edited 1059d ago )

Sweet!! I never got around to playing it on the 360 but always wanted to. Looking forward to next month!!

Crows901059d ago

Agreed. You see I'm surprised that Microsoft hasn't bought remedy...of all the studios in their list....I'd assume remedy would be an obvious based on real actual relationships.

I liked Alan Wake and am super excited for Alan Wake 2. Hopefully turns out great ..I've actually liked ALL of their games including quantum break...except for the TV show part.

Christopher1059d ago

I've never bought a CoD game, but now due to PS+, I 'rent' like 8 of them or so. I played one a few times with my nephews. Still not my cup of tea. But, it's interesting to see how many CoD games PS+ can throw at me.

LG_Fox_Brazil1059d ago

Pretty damn good, I almost bought Alan Wake last month, glad I held my wallet

REDGUM1059d ago

I picked up my copy of it 2nd hand just last Saturday. agghhh. If only I had waited just a little more longer.

Knushwood Butt1059d ago

Me too, it's been on my wishlist for months. Glad I held out!

Elda1059d ago

A pass for me due to playing Cold War & Alan Wake already.

phoenixwing1059d ago

Glad I didn't buy cold war or Alan wake. Now I can enjoy them for the stories

Kassanova071059d ago

I was curious about both. Great timing!
