Control AWE DLC: An Alan Wake Recap

Control's second expansion: AWE is due for release soon, and we saw from the trailer that Alan Wake was to play a part. Many people will never have played Alan Wake, so, I dusted off my Xbox 360 and played through Alan Wake with an eye for how it could relate to the Control universe.

I'm still hoping Alan Wake gets a surprise re-release on PS4 on the same day as this DLC. Not sure how likely that is now!

It would need to be remade and there has been no word on a remake/remaster but that would be nice to have. As it is, the bc on xbo is sufficient but I'd love a remake as well.

Rumours have existed for around a year that one is in development, but I still don't think it's likely. What a way to launch the shared universe though!

I may just have to play the original on Xbox before I play the AWE DLC for Control!

@ Darth

A 4K update would be nice

Cannot wait for this 100% main game and foundation I’m ready. 😍🙌🏻

Why is there mention of getting out the x360? This game has been 4k60 on pc for years.

Control was really good. There was a ton of backtracking and running through the building from one end to the other a ton of times, but otherwise I loved it. Can't wait to see the sequel.

Yeah it was awesome....looking forward to this reveal

I really enjoyed Control though without the mini map i found myself lost and or unsure of what to do too often and gave in on the game about 30% in.
Ive just re-downloaded it with the latest update with the enhanced graphics but unaure I'll dig back into it agaith with my current backlog.
Looking forward to seeing whats next from Remedy though.

I know exactly what you mean. I've played the game through twice and have had the same issue both times.

What I found on my latest playthrough was that the best way to navigate is to use the physical signs in-game as well as the map.

A Late Look: Alan Wake

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "All in all, it’s not hard to see why Alan Wake has received a bit of a cult following (there’s that famous foreshadowing again). It’s a title that blends themes and gameplay, while pushing the limits of storytelling by putting stories within stories and letting you read those stories before you get to that part in… the story. It has flaws, to be sure - the gameplay side can’t quite keep up with the rest of its ambitions - but overall it’s a great game that stands out among its peers and is undeniably… one for the books."
