Intel's brand new processors have hit retail this month and their radical new design has enthusiasts salivating at the prospect of Core i7 and what it'll be able to do. It marks a significant change in the way Intel has designed processors in the past and at its base level the Core i7 looks more akin to an Athlon 64 than a Core 2.
The Core Gamer looks at the new CPUs and asks what does they mean for PC Gamers? Are the changes that Intel are ringing mean any performance boost for games or is it only multithreaded applications that will run away with Intel's cream of the crop?

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
Intel i7, wooohoo!! Not... Just another rehash of the x86. Give me something new and exciting. The DEC Alpha was/is awesome and exciting, the MIPS R14000 and R16000 is cool, PPC, Power, Cell and UltraSparc T2 and T2 Plus are awesome and exciting. Instead the computer industry focuses on maintaining backwards compatibility with applications and operating systems and in doing so sacrifices progress in the PC space. For once it would be nice to see the x86 just lay down and die and let a worthy successor come in. Whether it be Cell/BE, PPC or Larrabee who knows but what I do know is that the x86 is holding things back.
It's better than the CELL processor what i've been hearing so far from Developers.
And the new i7 chip is SLAMMIN. I'm seeing 18x performance gains (in 3D rendering) over my last computer, a 2.8Ghz Pentium 4. Vista is kinda cruddy, but hasn't gotten in my way too much. Other than the constant crashing of E-on Vue 5 Infinite (grumble).
should be getting my new system in about a week! Cannot wait!!
Core I7 940,ASUS Rampage II Extreme, 3GB DDR3 (only 3 because i refuse to move to Vista), GeForce GTX 280, Western Digital Velociraptor
