Planet Earth can fit on 10 DVD discs. Now we know.

darthv722011d ago

wow... that is really old school. Im surprised they arent making a BD version as well. I know that DVD drives are still something in the majority of PC's but you would think they could make a BD version for those who have one.

Fishy Fingers2011d ago (Edited 2011d ago )

No drive is in the majority of high spec PC these days (most cases dont even support it).

But DVDs are more common the BR in OG setups, because games are 99% digital and who buys BR movies for their PC?

Petebloodyonion2011d ago

physical PC games never come on bluray but DVD since there's more DVD player installed compare to bluray drive.

porkChop2011d ago

It wouldn't make financial sense to release two physical editions when physical accounts for very little sales on PC.

ForwardDude2011d ago

Not in 8k or 16k. With future technology will come 40 to 160 DVD version

NVMGaiden2010d ago

Just imagine when they use this technology on a game taking place on the ground.

S2Killinit2011d ago (Edited 2011d ago )

Huh, they could have put them on 50 VHS and be done with it at this point.

Knushwood Butt2010d ago

Forget VHS, go old school TDK 90 cassette tapes.

1Victor2010d ago

VHS woah hold on young man that is too advance it needs to be in 400 floppy disk

SamTheGamer2010d ago

1 million Magnetic Drum Memory would be fantastic

MephiSkA2010d ago

Lol, floppy disks could hold 1.44mb of data. 10 dual layer DVDs would require more than 59000 floppy disks :)

Imortus_san2011d ago (Edited 2011d ago )

Holy shit, 10 dual layer disks, that's 2 days installing, lmao. Better go digital.

Dee_912011d ago

a week of downloading digitally with my internet 🤣
im gonna use mcdonalds wifi lol

rainslacker2011d ago

Probably still be plenty of updates to download after install anyways.

Imortus_san2010d ago

A week, damm I'm glad I got 200mb bandwith that gives me between 16 and 26mb download depending on hour of the day, the game should be 100+ I'm going to try and test it on my PC, it sould be maybe 6h of download.

nowitzki20042010d ago

Imagine the size of the updates.

Rainbowcookie2010d ago

Staff at mcdonalds "Hello what can we do for you today?" 🤣🤣😂

Dee_912010d ago (Edited 2010d ago )

@Imortus_san

TheEnigma3132011d ago

you'd eat up your data cap and your HDD

Teflon022011d ago

10 discs dual layered wouldnt even be enough to cover dual layered BluRay discs. MW is way bigger than that lol.

If you have a data cap small enough for that to be an issue, you're probably better off not going digital on anything

Imortus_san2010d ago

@Twflon02

Blu-ray dual layer is 50gb, no console or movie as used the special disc with 100gb or 200gb, maybe next gen.

1Victor2010d ago

That’s one thing I hope COVID-19 kills we don’t need data caps anymore

DJStotty2010d ago

If it takes you 2 days to install 90gb, you need a better drive/pc

Smok912011d ago

“Master Race” uses DVDs still lol

MadLad2011d ago (Edited 2011d ago )

The "master race" meme started via butthurt console gamers in the mid 2000's.
Just saying.

This is also one game, and it can also be downloaded digitally. Probably on multiple storefronts because something console only gamers are confused by called "choice".

JEECE2011d ago

That moment when you rip someone for saying something old and played out but you also use the word "butthurt," which everyone else your age stopped saying ten years ago.

rainslacker2011d ago

Yeah, had nothing to do with the PC gamers coming into console discussions talking about how their set ups were so much better, and console gamers were peasants. I'm sure the PC gamer was all innocent and stuff.

Bladesfist2010d ago

@rainslacker so you mean like exactly what Smok91 is doing in this article? Or is it different because he isn't directly saying Consoles are better because they have Bluray?

RedDevils2010d ago (Edited 2010d ago )

You sound like a butthurt PC peasant, Oh I meant PC master race lol

Knushwood Butt2010d ago

Wasn't long ago that the 'b' word would get you modded for 'inappropriate' on here.

nowitzki20042010d ago

Look at this site, there is plenty of us PC gamers, but who brings that term up most? Console gamers.

anubusgold2011d ago

Yeah because bluray software sucks and expensive just to play movies. I just find a hacked program just to watch one lol.

NeoGamer2322011d ago

I'm surprised that fanboys aren't in here saying that Flight Simulator is a last gen game because it ships on DVD.

2011d ago
King_Noctis2011d ago

Because they have to support multi-generation PC users, unlike some console which ditches the past gen owners as soon as a new gen starts.

King_Noctis2010d ago

@Knushwood

Yeah I was totally referring to Nintendo. Thanks for reiterating my point.

XBManiac2010d ago

Nobody uses discs in Master Race... nobody I know.

nowitzki20042010d ago

If they do then they are not fully in the master race yet.

anubusgold2008d ago (Edited 2008d ago )

We would use disks but we just get a download code in the box that pisses me off plus if i download two or 3 games i hit my bandwith cap. I use to play old unreal tournament and medal of honor those were 4 and 6 disk games and if you get the dlc packs its even more disks. Plus websites download speeds are so slow like origin the disk would be faster.

nowitzki20042010d ago

No the "master race" has gone digital long ago.
