The more prevalent rise of remakes in the games industry has led to a concerning trend of the original versions of classics being left behind and replaced by their more modernised counterparts.

Capcom has announced and released the original Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 on Steam.

Capcom recently released Resident Evil Requiem, and it's been so successful that it's seemingly dragging along every other Resi game with it.
That's certainly true in the UK; the latest physical retail charts have come in, and the top 10 includes five Resident Evil games across all platforms.

Sammy: "Sony disastrously and disgracefully shuttered Texas-based fan favourite Bluepoint yesterday. The long-time PS Studios partner never got a chance to ship a game under its new parent company.
This news hit me particularly hard because I believe it reflects the erosion of once-great PlayStation management that I think we’ve all been feeling for quite some time."
How was this allowed to happen? A studio know for excellent remakes and remasters were put on a GOW live service game? Something nobody wanted? There are so many other, more interesting projects, for me they were the prime studio who should have remastered or remade Bloodborne, what an absolute waste, I'm really annoyed about this.
Hulst should have followed Jim Ryan out the door, especially after his failed concord brainchild, execs really do only fail upwards.
It does concern me that they think closing amazing studios like Bluepoint and Japan Studios is smart.
I'm honestly surprised Media Molecule is still around. They put out what 1 game in the past 10+ years? I personally wasn't interested in Dreams, so they have been a wash for me since the PS3 era. Are they working on a new game? What are they doing?
Frustrating news, for sure. Hulst is on a major losing streak. Baffling decisions....
They could of let them do a Remakes of Sly, Jak and Daxter maybe the old Killzone games. Ported Demon Souls to other platforms. Steady revenue for growth becoming a 70 team to 100+ eventually.
As a PS Fan and someone that looks to new exsperiences not rehashing old ones I can feel for the devs but it does not move the needle as far as getting new video games.
i will agree ...most of the remakes are not faithfull to the original and in alot of ways inferior because they r rushed
Im currently playing FFVII Remake , i can say the graphical improvments of models and battle system are good , but everything else is somewhat inferior or different (especially the environment) and does nt manages to recapture the atmosphere of the old game ...also Crash Remakes are far from being perfect remakes in a lot of ways (inferior art elements, gameplay elements, inferior remade music) ..
..Imo Nintedo does the best job keeping its IP remakes faithfull and improved , for example Mario Odyssey is not only faithfull to its predecessor (Mario 64) but also aesthetically (and mechanically) is farsuperior to any current gen platformer , and probably is the best platform game yet
I don't like most of the changes in the FF7 Remake especially to the story and its been softened up there's no blood and some of the characters don't die like in the original. Apart from the swearing which is still there its almost like the game has been made family friendly now.
ok
The only smart decision is to let both versions be available to fans just as same with movies, at least with FF7 you can get the PS1 and Remake version on PS4.
