The PS5 is quite different than past Sony consoles. But does that make it bad?

It's 2020. We have self driving cars, flying hoverboards, talking A.I. devices, VR, portable computers that take phone calls, take pictures, play music, play movies, play games, is a personal reader and navigates by GPS. Sony's console represents the next 10 years of looking towards the future we are currently in.
What SHOULD the console look like? A box?
Only thing I don't like is the digital only PS5 kinda of pain in the ass if PS5 is suppose to be backwards compatible with the PS4. All and all I give Sony credits with the PS5 design looks more futuristic and not just a plain box like previous consoles. Sony was thinking outside the box when they designed the PS5 can't wait to see what the PS5 slim will look like.
I'm wondering how big it is? Looks like it goes pretty deep as well. But hard to size it up. The other Question for me, can you turn the LCD lights off? Looks nice, but kind like it's wrapped in a funky taco shell.
