Next gen "in design"...not exclusive to next-gen platforms only though. 😉

Christopher2155d ago

@timotim: Not sure I'd agree with that. It's looking great, but I definitely think they are being held back by base XBO in this. That's why I don't think "True" next-gen is an appropriate label for it. This is the same conundrum Sony is facing with their SSD and third-parties.

How are they being held back by X1 when we haven't seen that version at all yet and its only coming AFTER the PC version? Furthermore, how is the design process they spoke about in this very video contingent on the X1's power??? Its next gen because its never been done before in a videogame in its design process. How many games in the past has ever used realtime real life weather, real time flight air traffic, real mapping data etc in a game before??? Its next-gen in DESIGN, you need to understand what that means. The fact that it WILL come to X1 in the future is like saying the Switch version of the Witcher 3 held back the PC of the game, yet Witcher 3 was DESIGNED for next-gen high end PC from the start haha. Just because a game comes out on a certain platform doesnt mean the game was designed around that platform. Clearly The Witcher 3 was design for the Switch, which is why they had to hold back the Switch version of the game in many aspects...I expect this game to be the same on X1.

***Just because a game comes out on a certain platform doesnt mean the game was designed around that platform.***

Well, shoot, I'm going to apply this logic to everyone who complaints about other games from now on then. All this "lowest common denominator" stuff is now just thrown out the window. Whew! What a relief!

timotim2154d ago

That was weak Chris!

I just gave you clear examples of this which you failed to acknowledge. Did The Witcher 3 come out on the Switch??? However, was it DESIGNED for the Switch??? Cased closed! You are getting defensive because you know im right. This game was DESIGNED for next-gen high end PCs. And I never said to throw out the lowest common denominator stuff...however, you must look at the design process before you speak. Where did the game start? What innovations went into it etc. The Last of Us on PS4 was held back by the PS3 version of the game because it STARTED OFF as a PS3 title...it was made with PS3 in mind and later ported to PS4. Thats not the case with this game...it started off as a high end PC game with advanced technology never before done in gaming...it will then get ported to the lower denominator platform in X1...HUGE DIFFERENCE.

Amazing detailed discussion on weather integration into FS. The amount of work and integration of information from third parties for accuracy & realism is astounding. Can’t wait to play and experience this simulator!

That is pretty cool. Using real world data to drive the environment simulating a real world game!

This next gen is going to be cool. There are a lot of new features games are going to have!

Imagine a game setting in real-world cities using this data as well. Using real time weather and day/night. Very collio.

Showed this to some coworkers and they thought it was real. Minds blew when I told them it was a game.
