As part of the PS5 games showcase, Square Enix announced Project Athia, which we presume won't be the game's final title. Watch the debut.
There were a fair few interesting reveals at today’s Square Enix: Presents, so let’s take a look at them.
Honestly the entire show was boring. Athia looked as contrived as I expected, complete with unnecessary cursing in the brief 20 seconds of story show. I really don't care about these things normally but it just sounded poor and the cut was really bad. Also blech at the "real world" actress as the character....not a fan of that trend
Sony has updated its CES 2021 video to remove mentions of any upcoming PS5 exclusives that didn't have a release date including Project Athia.
You mean 3rd party release dates? I’m sure they decided it’s best to leave the release dates up to the publishers.
Yup. I prefer them to focus on the ones closer to launch anyway - there's so much going on, it being a new gen, that it helps people get a truer picture. Pretty sure Project Athia was confirmed to NOT be this year, so hold off hyping it and give the air time to those on the cusp of release.

I feel the same way, especially with what's been going on with covid so far. We've seen how easy it is to pull away our excitement just like with hogwarts legacy recently.
They announced God of War and GT for 2021 as well (I know they aren't part of the article, but they were announced for 2021).
GT was delayed a few weeks ago. I am sure GoW will be delayed as well.
That is just how 2021 will be. The year of the delays. Sony still has a great lineup with R&C, Returnal, and Horizon! Don't really need to do more.
So basically, Sony started announcing a bunch of games with release dates to increase the hype... months later removes the release dates.

They literally shared this a few days ago at CES. No idea where the “months later” came from.
They were probably placeholder dates that the developer provided to Sony but weren't supposed to be in the video. The games will still be on course for the times said unless the developer publicly says different
This is nothing new Sony does this yearly, they annouce a bunch of games to make the year seem stack then half em don't release that year.
But, at least they release games. Even if some of the games they annouce don't release, they have other games that take their place.

I am glad that Cyberpunk fiasco was the wake-up call publishers needed.
There's been plenty of wakeup calls lately and no one learned anything.
Edit* Anthem, Shadow of war, Battlefront 2, Fallout 76, Mass Effect Andromeda as well as some others for sure.
So its now sonys fault that 3rd party games dont hit there targeted release window??? I mean that's what some of you guys are saying in the comments.
They need to try and knock PS in their minds so they feel better about buying their Xbox’s .
Yeah because in their heads a game not coming out in it's release window on Sony's console is the same thing as them having a game now instead of nothing.
Sony is currently hosting its press event at CES 2021 and PlayStation 5 was at the forefront of the presentation.
It’s cool that they gave us a lot of dates for ps5 games, but with covid still going on, I wouldn’t take these too seriously.

The dates were only for the games shown in the video. That's why God of War wasn't mentioned. Same goes for GT7. Doesn't mean they aren't coming this year though.
I watched the livestream and they promised 30 minutes and it was just over 18. Some PS, mostly camera, television, and music.
Yes but Sony ususlly does 60 minutes or more. We have covered it for over a decade and always get an invite to cover. It was really stripped down.
