To start PS4 was more powerful and $100 cheaper than Xbox one at launch. Pair that with Microsoft’s other PR mistakes and Sony supporting the PS4 for years with a steady stream of solid exclusives and you have your answer.

Good games and incredible marketing

Compared to the games that came out for PS3, and the technology that PS3 had over the Xbox 360, there was nothing special this gen in any respect, and I would say that this was the case for both Xbox and Playstation. The only reason I can see, was the combination of the PS4 being more powerful and $100.00 cheaper at launch, combined with marketing and the disastrous Don Mattrick Xbox One reveal event at E3. There were a few good exclusive games on the PS4, but nothing that warranted the stupid amount of sales that Sony managed to generate. Good on them I suppose...

The complete disconnection of the competitor announcement with the public + Consistent delivery of good titles well distributed along the years + competitive price policy.

But the most important thing is consistency. Playstation players trust that Sony will deliver good value in their games and they sustained this over the years. This creates a relation of trust. MS have failed in their consistency in both quality and delivery, plus they keep the disconnection between its discourse and their actions.

Well, how does a console win a gaming console war? Well with good games of course! Who would have thought?

First party games is the only reason. It wasn’t even a competition. Microsoft knows this and that’s why they have armed up. Next gen will be a much better ‘war’.

Sony made a lot of ugly special edition PS4s but that 500 Million PS4 Pro is the sexiest console of all time.

Entry price, followed up by great games delivered at a consistent pace throughout the ENTIRE generation of their console, seems like the winning formula to me!

Not surprised Sony makes great consoles with great games. On the other hand, Xbox is sooooo boring and Nintendo is in it's own world.

People like great games. It has been proven time and again.

It’s the trust they have garnered in their fan base. They deliver every generation. They take risks, make games, and push new tech. It’s a sure thing with PlayStation.

Although Sony still had to produce great games the damage was done during the jack tretton announcement of used games and the jab at ms for authenticating within 24hrs plus ms dug there own grave with kinect, new ips which didn't resonate with gamers and under performed as a result.
Gamepass will do well for MS nxt gen but it's always touch and go showing new ips for the 1st time which is what Ms needs to get right this time and the same goes for Sony going into a new gen with new ips, yes we have spiderman 2, gow2, days gone 2 et to look fwd too but it's still nervous hoping Sony has new ips you like going into a new gen.

Lmao what do you mean How? Most of their exclusives have been top notch while Xbox releases Crackdown 3.

-Competitive price.
-Good community support.
-Good relationship with many 3rd party studios.
-Focus on games over services.
-Global appeal instead of exclusively Western.
-Microsoft and Nintendo not dropping the ball so much as spiking it.

Nintendo bowed out, as far as tech is concerned, and MS shat the bed with the XB1 launch and has been trying to make up for it ever since.

I have both consoles and I would rate them at 50/50. If there is a winner it is by 51/49. Noise is a major issue, my X box one s is dead quiet while sometimes the PS4 sounds like a jet engine.

The momentum started when Xbox went on their "Always Online" and "Unique game registry per console" strategy. After that, Sony simply had to take the opening and energy to roll ball them.

PS4 won because of two things. Kinect fuck up (partially caused by Snowden revelations around the same time) and second hand gaming (microsoft had new DRM that stopped the reuse of preowned discs). You wont dig this up as easily after the fact but it's the forgotten truth.

That's why they won the war this gen. PS3 didnt win the previous gen either by the way. 360 did as anyone who actually played in that gen knows. Yeah Sony continued selling ps3s after the fact but by then it didnt matter because they weren't making as much money as the price of the console was way cheaper for the consumers. Gamers buying preowned games weren't bringing in massive revenue for playstation at that point.

PS5 and Xbox series X will come down to exclusives. We haven't seen what games Sony have yet. We dont know price either. Xbox only brought in BC because they lost this gen. Sony would have done it except PS3 was too expensive to include.

Because of the miscommunication and policies at the xbox one launch, it would always be playing catch up.

Hopefully this gen is a bit closer so both companies will try harder to keep at the top!!

Wuchang is great. Nine Sols didn’t have a physical copy so I never played it but I’ve heard good things so I will check it out. I stopped playing sports games many years ago when before the card dlc’s or whatever they’re called.
