Not cheapy games
Not Hollywood horror
Not shoot em up
Not punching boulders

I agree with all those

Everything else? The entire plot of Resident Evil since the original is about a virus that turns humans and animals into mutated biological weapons of all different types. When you strip away EVERYTHING else, that is what RE has ALWAYS been about. So you're other complaints are EXACTLY what RE is. Why would a company that is creating biogical weapons not create different strains of their virus to make more deadly enemies than just dumb, shambling zombies? They were even doing it since the original game, with Hunters, the Tyrant, and giant animals. So why is it so crazy or out of left field for them to create more deadly enemies like Las Plagas, or giving themselves superhuman abilities like Wesker, or creating a strain that gives someone psychic abilities like in RE7?

With Re4 everything went downhill. It was a great game, but a very veeery bad RE game

DangerousDAN2189d ago

Slow-building Tension; through fear of a horrific situation taking place in a nightmarish environment.

That's an RE game to me.

AK912189d ago

Nothing what the game in the thumbnail had that's for damn sure.

Mr Marvel2189d ago (Edited 2189d ago )

For me RE 1-3, CV and the remakes are what Resident Evil are all about.
None of the others feel like Resident Evil to me.

At first I was like, No Code Veronica on the list!? But then I seen Mainline. The list checks out, but I would personally put 2 over 4.

KwietStorm_BLM96d ago

I'll take 2 over 4 also. And even without a number, I don't see how Code Veronica, my other favorite in the franchise, isn't mainline when it's the actual sequel to RE2.

Rebel_Scum97d ago

The original RE was the best. Its not on the list which makes no sense.

The remake of it was alright but should be higher on this list.

The original RE smokes VII and Village, come on.

ivoryrolland9577d ago

i’m fine with people calling it “mainline,” but leaving out the original re1 entirely is wild, since it basically defines the whole series. i’d still put re2 over re4 for pure pacing and atmosphere, even though re4 is the more replayable game. also, the “mainline” label gets messy with code veronica since it feels more essential than some numbered entries. i swear half the time i’m reading these rankings i get derailed by random gambling tabs i opened earlier, including https://monopolybigballerli... and https://football-studio-dic... and https://red-baron.org/ which is a weird contrast to talking about survival horror.
