thats true but its safe to say that amazon wont be the only deal hitting that day, stores have to make room for christmas and move all older units off the shelves, expect this to hsppen at a lot of retailers.

a PS3 costing less than $300 is an amazing value. hell, the PS3 at it's current price is an amazing value.

if Sony drops the price down to $300 just before Christmas, i see a lot of PS3's flying off the shelves.

Amazon won't be the only one to offer discounts and bundles on the PS3 for the holidays.

just think, you can get a 32" HDTV for $400 after Thanksgiving (according to NUMEROUS news reports saying prices of HDTVs are going be halved after Thanksgiving), and a Playstation 3 for $200-$300 (if you luck out with the Amazon deal), that's $600-$700 for your HDTV and PS3.

i paid $650 for my PS3 ($599 plus tax), and $1500 for my HDTV over a year ago, and you can get BOTH for over half the price (granted, my TV is 40", but 32" sets are awesome, and 40" sets are dropping in price as well) of what I paid last year.

the HD era is most certainly upon us, and in my opinion, only one console is really equipped to take full advantage of it, and that's the PS3 (built in HDMI, built in Wi Fi, built in Blu Ray drive for HD movie playback and games, web browser, a quality library of beautiful, fun games across all genres, and free online gaming).

if Sony's big marketing campaign set to debut soon does it's job, i can see a lot of people making the PS3 their HD platform of choice.

Sony's marketing campaign needs to do four main things:

1) Show off the awesome games that will appeal to the hardcore gamer (MGS4, Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2, Uncharted, Valkyria Chronicles, etc).

2) Show off the awesome games that will appeal to the casual gamer (Little Big Planet; although it works as a hardcore game too; Ratchet and Clank Future, Singstar, Buzz, High Velocity Bowling, etc). Games that will appeal to the Wii crowd that may be turned off by the Wii's minimalistic visuals, and especially if being played on a big screen HDTV (trust me, Wii games, even using component cables, look pretty bad on my set, and my roommate's set).

3) Show off it's cohesive new online network, spearheaded by the release of Playstation HOME (which is now listed in the PSN signup process). And most importantly, reiterate that online gaming, and HOME access is FREE, granted you already have an ISP.

4) Show off it's compatibility with Blu Ray movies (ie, Spider-Man trilogy, Iron Man, The Dark Knight, Wall E; all looking stunning on Blu Ray. i just watched Wall E on Blu Ray yesterday, and WOW. it looks amazing).

those four components, in a nutshell, embody what the PS3 is all about, and that NEEDS to come across in the advertisements.

there's literally something for EVERYONE on the PS3, and for $400, it's an investment for your whole family (if you have one; son's, daughter's, mother's, father's, etc), or just for you if you want some high def entertainment, but don't want to buy each component separately (say, an Xbox 360 for games, where you STILL have to pay for online, and if your router is too far away from your console, you'll have to either find a cord long enough, or plunk down more dough for the Wi Fi adaptor, and if you want HD movies, you're going to have to buy a dedicated Blu Ray player, or download "barely" HD movies from rental services; why bother, when you can have ALL of that for $400 - and less - in a PS3?).

the PS3 is a monster of a machine to market, because it does so many things. gamers complain when a new ad doesn't show off all the games, and instead focuses on Blu Ray, and the haters hop on it as "see, Sony cares more about Blu Ray than games, har har!"

when they basically have two very large, and DISTINCT markets they are pimping too.

a non-gamer movie fan doesn't want to see games in their movie commercials. and a hardcore gamer fan doesn't want to see movies in their game commercials.

so they have campaigns to pimp Blu Ray, campaigns to pimp Games, and then campaigns to pimp BOTH. that can't be cheap, honestly.

Maybe my cheapa$$ brother will finally buy one if he's selected or if I am. Several good deals on amazon.

Thats a really good deal. If I got pick, ill buy it again and sell it. woo. Only 500 ps3 though. Its gonna be hard. But the real product I hope I get pick is the kitchen Aid professional mixer for $69.00!!. Thats really a bargain. And im not kidding

The PS3 already has a library, and its getting bigger and bigger overtime.

the PS3 is possibly the most wanted box in the market, but there is a Money Barrier that is not allowing these Potential consumers to buy the system. Which comes to this:

Even though Amazon has this price listed, its only for a limited time. Until the PS3 drops its Price by next year (at least by $100) then it will be game over for the Competition. Right now, they have to keep making the PSN better and of course add more games into Their Library, especially AAA games. games like KZ2 is going to help the console in the future.

But seriously if you want a PS3, this is your chance to get one at a AMAZING price. You would have to be very retarded if you dont get one right now.

I am a RPG fan first, and currently Xbox has more exclusive RPGs. Add to the list the upcoming Star Ocean exclusive, and any true RPG fan would be crazy not to have a 360. Besides, as the Sony fanboys keep telling me, Square is now in MS's back pocket, so I have a feeling more RPGs will be 360 exclusives if we like it or not.

This is not to say that PS3 doesn't have good games, it has some great games or else I would have never bought one, but currently more of the games I enjoy playing are on the 360. I own 30 360 games compared to 10 PS3 games. Heck I currently own more Wii games then PS3 games, and your little anti-Wii comment, the Wii is not a bad system it is just different, No More Heros is a great game, and believe it or not Wii does have a small library of decent and fun games, plus it has the classics, and any gamer who doesn't appreciate the classics has a lot to learn if you ask me.

Plus I like the online experience of the 360 better.

Of course if you are not an RPG fan you would probably feel totally different, and I respect that. I also know that the 360 is not perfect, if it was I would not need to have a PS3 to play Metal Gear Solid. Plus Blue Ray rocks : ) I also have a PSP, a PS2 and a PS one, I own over 200 PS2 games, and have a huge PS one library as well, so I am certainly not anti-Sony. And I was not bashing the PS3, I like my PS3, I was simply stating that I don't think this deal is going to win the console war for Sony. I am a gamer, I have been for over 20 years, I am going to go where the games that suit my own personal taste are, and if anyone doesn't like that I couldn't care less.

And I honestly think that the ones who are in denial are the Fanboys who hold loyal to one system, even when they are not getting enough games to play. If you are happy with what you got, then by all means enjoy it, and happily wave your little fanboy flag proudly, but when I see all the complaining going on around hear I wonder if any Fanboy is really happy? They seem to be more pre-occupied with spewing nonsense and being rude to anyone who dares to have a different opinion from their own, and that is just sad.
