Everyone knows this, because so far we have mostly gotten CGI trailers and not ones with gameplay. Once game developers start showing gameplay trailers we'll get an idea of what these games can look like.

Until we see games only coming to next gen with gameplay it hasn't started. One company will move forward even though it has a install base of 110 million while the other wants to hang back with install base of 50 million to show they are making some sort of good gestures

Sony always sets the bar every generation. Their first party games are the best of the best each generation graphically.

Microsoft has already did the impossible with making Gears 5 at 4K / 60 FPS on a console the technical show case of this generation. Yes, there are some really good looking games out and still coming but nothing at 60FPS and looking that good. I can only imagine what Microsoft 1st party is going to doing with Series X.

If you see a logo saying "optimized for ...." it is not a next gen game.

It always takes a few years into a generation of consoles, before we start seeing games on a graphical level that we hadn't seen previously. Having said that, playing games like GR: Wildlands, Gears 5, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider on high-end PC hardware, is already essentially a next generation experience, when compared to these same games on consoles. I expect Horizon: Zero Dawn will also be absolutely stunning on high-end PC hardware when it launches this summer, and is sure to be a step above the current console versions, including that of the PS4 Pro.

I have a feeling the future of games will reveal its true face in the form of Elden Ring and God of War 2.

I cannot wait to see the rpg playground games is working on. The teasers they have released have looked really good and they are a top ten dev in the game so I expect a masterpiece. Fable reboot or new ip I’m pumped

I never doubted that. Hopefully within the next month or so Sony will be showing true next gen when they reveal new first party games at their PS5 reveal event.

All the graphic whores out there will never be satisfied with what they see. They're already trying to say these games that have been shown aren't impressive. I thought things looked pretty damn good from the Xbox showcase, I'm sure Sony's studios will have some mind blowing stuff to show soon, and the next couple of years will have some awesome stuff from both consoles. Can't we just be happy that awesome games with high frame rates and no load times are on the horizon?!

Nextgen doesn't start until Sony say so.
